I think it's worth noting however that its hard to tell accurately how people are doing from just these numbers...the number of interviews each person has daily is vastly different and some people have way heavier interview loads today/tomorrow than mon/tues so those people are bound not to have many CBs yet.

Jesus. This year is brutal. I'm not holding out much hope.

Did NYU really place 70% last year? Or is that stat bogus, like the CLS one?

No idea. It's still pretty early in the process or it might just be that my personality sucks :(

I know S&C has done some callbacks. Does that apply to DC as well? Also, if we have not heard from Clifford Chance, are they done? Any reject emails from them? Did Willkie only do day of/24 CBS?! Any word from Milbank?

Transfer here, 3 callbacks so far. After tomorrow, I will have done 36 interviews, and dropped off resumes in more then 50% of the hospitality suites I don't have interviews with. I'm casting as wide a net as I possibly can.

While these numbers are scary, I would not lose all hope yet. I think if the CB #s are still low on friday, then we're in trouble.

FWIW, everyone seems to say the economy is improving (or at least has improved from last year), and that they are enlarging summer classes. If that 70% number is correct (and this is what OCS has been pushing), then I think most of us will be fine, in the end.

That being said, I spoke with a dude who did OCI in 2006...said he had grades somewhere in the top half, and of 30 interviews, got 20 callbacks, 12 of which he did, and 11 of which he got offers from. The good old days.

I think it's too soon to panic. A lot of the early CBs would logically be concentrated among a small number of students, but I believe there will be more coming, even from most of the firms that have already called people. Talking to 3Ls, last year there were CBs given more than a month after interviews. These firms like NYU students, and they can't all hire the LR grade-ons.

I think it's silly to think that CBs must come within two days of the interview. As I noted already, one of my interviewers specifically told me that he wouldn't be calling anyone until next Monday.

The CLS one is bogus because only 266 CLS 2Ls got offers through EIP last year. The class size was 452. 266 out of 452 is not 70%.

The only way for the 70% number to be true for CLS would be: 1) more than 60 people did not do EIP - seems very unlikely. My CLS friends tell me that they can't think of more than 5-8 people who didn't do EIP. 2) many got biglaw offers outside of EIP - now that's a pipedream. Maybe a handful did, if they're lucky, but even 270/452 is nowhere near 70%.

CLS' Career Services has a spreadsheet showing how many people accepted offers with which firm. The total # of offers accepted was 266.

And I suppose it's unlikely that many passed up offers in favor of PI. I see what you're saying. Thanks for the explanation.

I can't speak to whether CLS's number is bogus, but I know NYU's is 70% of those who participated in EIW got offers out of EIW. Again, I don't know about CLS, but more than 60 people this year not participating at NYU's EIW sounds very realistic. I can think of 15-20 people easy - and I'm not a particularly outgoing person.

NYU has historically been much more PI-oriented than CLS.

"much more" meaning a few percent more of each class going into PI/government.

according to other threads, the firm's offers do not all go out at once. it can be based on who the interviewer was..... can you guys provide your interviewer's initials?

Based on my experience at Columbia this year, all callback invitations happened within 4 days of my interview at the absolute latest. All but one happened within 3 days. I got 15 callbacks mainly from places in the Vault 30, so I was a pretty strong candidate

I have now received rejections from everywhere else. I only interviewed with NYC firms. There may be a "hold" pile, but I wouldn't count on it. Sorry. Plan accordingly.
