Re: NYU 2010 EIW Callbacks Thread
my impression is that it entirely depends on the firm and how interested in you they are, i think that if they love you they generally all call you immediately, but most firms were telling me "by the end of the week" when i asked in interviews about when i would find out... so that either means that they all hated me or we have until friday to wait...

0 CB's. My Paul Weiss, Fried Frank, and Akin Gump interviews all went REALLY well, and I thought I had a great rapport with my interviewers. Run for the hills, fml, we're all gonna die.

Since its done by interviewer its entirely possible that some were too busy to get to it today. I think in the columbia thread there were some firms whose callbacks spanned two days180orbust wrote:0 CB's. Do most NYC offices do callbacks same night as interview? If so, then FML too.180orbust wrote:No way, its all over, I'm cacelling my wednesday and thursday interviews, I'm a huge failure and my parents are deeply disappointed in me. Fuck me. CLS rising 2L here. Just to calm you guys down, some interviewers definitely took longer than others. For big NYC firm X, interviewer A took 2 days to get back while mine took about 4 days to get back. So just sit tight and relax until you hear the news!

hearing rumors of people with 5+ callbacks already. Anyone know if this is accurate? I'm feeling like tomorrow will be the big day for callbacks to start coming in.

I didn't get one (yet), but they told me that Cahill snail-mails their callback invitations.

Re: NYU 2010 EIW Callbacks Thread
The trend from my school's OCI was also for callbacks to spike Thursday and Friday. A common practice at a firm is for the interviewer to return with notes / impressions plus the original resumes, then a committee to make decisions, then the original interviewer calls/emails the called back candidates. As a result, you have no way of knowing when that committee can get together. Certainly some firms plan to get it done within 24 hours, or authorize the partners going to OCI to make the calls that evening. But at other firms, they might interview on a Thursday and not have the committee meet for a week.
Additionally, it seems to be the case that firms will quickly send snail-mail or email rejections to most interviewees, quickly callback some interviewees, and then do nothing with a much smaller group. That smaller group is in the running for a CB. It isn't very likely, but people get jobs every year from firms which did most callbacks/dings in lat August but got back to this particular person in mid-September or later. Don't get to caught up in the '24 minutes after the interview or you won't ever get a callback' hysteria.

Re: NYU 2010 EIW Callbacks Thread
Clinging to the 24 hour window for CBs seems a little unwarranted. One of my interviewers specifically told me not to expect to hear from him until next week because he'll be travelling after completing our OCI. I'm sure he's not the only person in that situation; others just probably don't bother telling us as much.
