Top 25%. 27 bids, 5 interviews - gov and mid, no biglaw. About what I expected - I don't have substantive WE/softs.

well, this isn't really all that anonymous anymore, but the reason for the low number of bids is because i avoided writing cover letters. yes, i am lazy.

No, I only bid on IP firms and I have an IP-oriented background. Sorry, I should have specified that in my post.

Is it possible to determine if your bid was pre-selected or a lottery pick?

Anybody else being requested by firms as backups? I've had two already, now up to 17 total.

I feel like we should merge the UCD and UCH threads since there isn't nearly enough UCD discussion.

Davis, top third.

for round 2, 8 bids, 3 preselects, 2 firms (both SF) and 1 govt employer.

good luck!

is SF your target market or just where you ended up getting interviews?

I targeted SF and Sacramento more or less equally. Oddly, many of my classmates and I seem to have had much more luck with SF firms. My guess is that the Sac firms are hiring more McGeorge people this year, but it could just be luck of the draw.

just a few anecdotes regarding the odds we face

Alameda DA - 200 interviews at 8 law schools (40 at Hastings) for 8-10 summer law clerk positions.
Morgan Lewis - 30 interviews at Boalt, 10 at Hastings for 6 SA positions.

Even if everything else were equal, on pure statistics alone we are looking at 5-10% chances at best at any given employer.
