Re: Penn OCI
Has anyone heard from Philly or DC firms yet? I know they told us that NY will be going faster than some of the other markets. I mostly applied outside of NYC and haven't heard anything.
Also, what is the median at Penn? I always thought it was curved to about a B+, but I never saw anything specific.

They don't tell us what median is, but from what I can tell it's a little bit under a B+, like 3.25-3.3 or so.
Also, I haven't heard anything from Philly yet, or NYC, or anywhere for that matter. No callbacks or rejections from 9 interviews.

I've heard of one or more of NY and DC from others though I still think it's far too early to make anything of it at all whatsoever.Anonymous User wrote:Has anyone heard from Philly or DC firms yet? Above median, secondary journal -- 2 rejections from NYC firms (of 3 interviewed with so far), and I've heard nothing from all 6 DC firms I've interviewed with so far.

Is it just me or is OCI going extremely poorly?

Re: Penn OCI
Heard that someone got Jones Day and Goodwin DC.
I agree with other posters that it's too early to say whether things are going badly -- we still have four days of interviews left. I heard that last year if you were around the median the max number of callbacks you received was 1 or 2, so hopefully this year will be better.

I'm definitely in the top 1/3rd or 1/4th... and I've only gotten 1 callback so far. As of Friday night, I had done 20 interviews.

Just curious, what qualifies as "definitely" top 1/3rd?Anonymous User wrote:I'm definitely in the top 1/3rd or 1/4th... and I've only gotten 1 callback so far. As of Friday night, I had done 20 interviews.

And otherwise -- 20 interviews in the first three days? Damn, I've had 9.

3.5 I think is roughly the top 33% mark.Anonymous User wrote:Just curious, what qualifies as "definitely" top 1/3rd?Anonymous User wrote:I'm definitely in the top 1/3rd or 1/4th... and I've only gotten 1 callback so far. As of Friday night, I had done 20 interviews.

Re: Penn OCI
ITE sucks. At least you have another 10 interviews. (I got 10 total interviews via my school's OCI.) Good luck to the both of us!underachiever wrote:NYC and some DC....some firms have been way out of my league but most I should have had a shot at. I did 17 this week and have 10 more next week, so I only struck out 17 times as of yet. I also just got a dinged via-mail after a local market call-back previous to OCR. NICE.Anonymous User wrote:market? nyc?underachiever wrote:27 interviews through OCR. No call backs yet and 1 ding via email.....above median and on a journal

If feast or famine normal for us, or is this an ITE thing. I'm trying to figure out if I was stupid for going to law school or if I was stupid for going to law school ITE.Anonymous User wrote:All NY:

Not surprising that the top people are doing well, that was kind of a given. Didn't know what to expect for the not top people, and it's looking pretty brutal so far.

Re: Penn OCI
Things that matter:
(1)Top 1/3rd grades;
(2)LR (grade or write-on);
(3)Diversity or;
(4)Prior FULL-TIME work experience (seems to be the saving grace of those around (above or below) median)
....all the folks i know with callbacks have at least 1 of those 4 attributes
