I've been rejected by all three. Drinker and Baker Botts rejected me after I contacted the firm although Fried Frank sent a letter several weeks ago without any prior contact.

Ya, you have to contact Baker Botts DC to get your rejection, I refuse to do it.

Never heard back from 4 screeners, all in the same market, all satellite offices, with the interviewing attorneys being from other offices. I'm thinking that they just didn't pass the information on to the satellite offices?

I wouldnt doubt it. I have heard it happening at several firms before. If you wanted a satellite office you should have just send them a targeted letter, its safer then doing the 'OCI with a different office' thing.

I would follow up with these satellite offices directly, send an email following up. Attach ur transcript and resume and almost format the email to be a letter of continued interest + cover letter letting them know you had not heard anything and that you are still interested.

I've been doing a lot of heavy drinking. It numbs the pain.

Did anyone hear back from Mintz Levin following last week's on-site screening interview?

Just got my 2nd callback rejection, out of 3 callbacks. Not looking good. Seems a lot of people are having problems with the callback phase of the process, despite getting some callbacks to begin with.

I go to another MVP -- I found it much easier landing callbacks than offers. I think firms are interviewing similar numbers of applicants as they have in the past, but are slashing summer associate class sizes, or at the very least, keeping the same, reduced sizes as they were this summer.

Hey guys, not a Penn student, but was wondering if any of you knew how Philly compensation compares with NYC lockstep of 160, 170, 185, 200, 220?

I understand its a lot lower and that Philly is a lot cheaper, but was just wondering.

Thanks

In my opinion, this is very hard to tell. At one point it was a few firms at 145 and the rest around 125-130. Now, between moving to more merit-based compensation and some firms doing 10% paycuts, who knows. Morgan and Dechert start at 145 and supposedly have pretty nice increases. Other firms start between 110 and 130 and there is no real transparency after that.

And I wouldn't say Philly is a lot cheaper. If you live the lawyer lifestyle here (Rittenhouse square apartment, nice dinners, nice clothes, etc) it's probably only 10-20% cheaper.

That said, if you live in Fishtown and don't eat out, you could pay off loans and save up pretty quickly.

Offers have been made for both. My Dechert offer was on a Tuesday.

I had given up all hope, guys, and suddenly just got 2 callbacks this week at really good firms in secondary markets. (I'm not saying which, don't ask.)

It's not over till its over! Keep on trying.

Mind elaborating on whether it was through resume collect, OCI or Mailing?
