Texas Markets - OCI Results
Many of the OCI postings are related to NYC/DC firms, and since those markets tend to move earlier, I thought a Texas markets thread would be useful. Post the latest on Houston/DFW/Austin/SA here.
Has anyone received callbacks from any TX offices yet? Also, please include your law school or its general ranking for reference (T14, TTT, etc).

You may have seen this in the Northwestern OCI thread, but V&E, Fulbright, and Jackson Walker have all made callbacks from their Northwestern interviews.

If, hypothetically of course, one had their choice of TX firms, which would you choose and why? I'm not yet in this position, but with a little luck it's possible. Obviously how I feel I fit with each is a huge factor, but is there anything that sets one apart from the others, good or bad?

I have a Susman CB. Does anybody know things about it or the summer program? I've found good info on their website, but it's a bit harder to track down concrete info on stuff like what the summer program there is like than it is for larger firms. I've heard rumors that it's only 4 weeks long?

As a fellow Susman CB, I'd be interested in chatting with you. Shoot me an email at eyeoftheliger86@gmail if you want.

Also a Susman callback. Seems like they are handing them out like candy - I wonder how many slots they actually have to fill?

I don't think they're handing them out like candy...they actually said they were doing less this year.

Are all y'all with Susman callbacks on LR? I'm not but got invited to their dinner- I couldn't go and didn't get a callback. I can't tell if it was my credentials (grades are fine) or my not going to the dinner that did me in.

Candy comment poster. LR, no dinner invitation, didn't even realize they had a dinner.Anonymous User wrote:Are all y'all with Susman callbacks on LR? Hm...that's interesting re: callback w/o dinner.
I actually don't technically have a CB yet (basically, they've said we'll be flying you down, look forward to you meeting our atty's, etc but nothing is scheduled). I was one of a tiny number of students at dinner.
I had assumed -- and they definitely seemed to indicate -- that the only people getting CBs were the people who had been at the dinner.
I guess we'll see!

Lower T-14, right around top 1/3, relevant work experience.Anonymous User wrote:Many of the OCI postings are related to NYC/DC firms, and since those markets tend to move earlier, I thought a Texas markets thread would be useful. Post the latest on Houston/DFW/Austin/SA here.

TX Callbacks so far:
V&E (Houston)
Jones Day (Dallas)
Baker Botts (Houston)
Latham (Houston)
Got a dinner invite by Locke Lord, but no official CB so far. Some other small markets have been relatively quick in their responses as well, but I think smaller firms are pacing themselves a bit more (from what I hear). Good luck!

Re: Texas Markets - OCI Results
Kinda where I'm at right now, with a little luck. I'd say either V&E or Haynes & Boone... both are apparentely great places to work, well-managed, and stable. HB is an awesome lifestyle firm that has boomed during the recession, and V&E has the #1 spot in TX with a high lifestyle ranking to match (only firm that can make the claim). Just my opinion, though...Anonymous User wrote:If, hypothetically of course, one had their choice of TX firms, which would you choose and why?
