That's the problem - most firms are "ok" with splits, but since they are all first-half only, the end result is the same as if splits were outright banned. I'll be curious to see if people with multiple offers are able to negotiate for second-half jobs.

I have a second half offer from AK and was hoping to hear back from Locke Houston (they also offer second half positions). However, I have heard reports that Baker Botts and V&E are very unwilling to work with second half firms.

False. I know of at least 2 V&E Dallas offers.
Are these offers from CBs are 1L offers to return?

When I called to tell them I had an offer, V&E in Austin said they don't make decisions until everyone has interviewed, fwiw. I called on the 3rd and they said they were only about halfway done with their callbacks then. Probably at least a week left until they start making offers, based on that timeline.

Didn't mean to be curt, just wanted to emphasize that they indeed have made offers, and not to 1Ls to return.

From what I gather, the calls came a bit over a week after the CBs.

Thanks. I'm just a little tense (especially b/c they indicated that they were only going to have 10 or so slots in Dallas not including the 1Ls who will be returning). It's been two weeks since interviewing with them and they are my top choice. I have strong ties to Texas. At the same time, I have NYC offers from Simpson Thatcher and Weil. While I have done very well in the NYC market, I have only a single offer in Texas.

A lot of Dallas firms are still doing CBs and may be waiting to give out their offers until after everyone is done- I have a CB at V&E Dallas next week and CBs at other firms as late as Sept 24th

Thoughts on Jackson Walker assuming little interest in litigation?

If you don't mind, can you post whether or not you have ties to Texas along with your cb info? That would be very helpful!

I have a V & E Dallas offer. Call came ~ week after my CB. I was surprised because they also told me that it would be awhile until I heard back because they wanted to see all the candidates from each school before they started making offers.

Congrats. Given that I have other offers, should an offer be forthcoming from V&E, I'll immediately reject. I'm having a hard enough time deciding where to go and it's nice to know that I am not at the top of their list.

NYAssociate, what are you doing in the Texas thread? I have some questions for you later. Why wait? Because I invested a significant amount of my time and would like to at least receive a decision. Also, V&E was a firm st the top of my list so I am curious how things would have played out.

If you are 100% sure you won't take their offer, withdraw NOW. There are a lot of other people who would kill to have that slot, and whose chances might be increased if you were to withdraw. Massaging your ego is NOT a sufficient reason to potentially mess up other student's chances.

I'm not 100% sure. However, I have offers expiring at the end of this week and cannot wait any longer.

What thoughts do ppl have on the following firms in Dallas: Gardere, Hunton & Williams, Musch Hardt, Strasburger, and Winstead?

These are all firms that historically had large starting classes that have either cancelled their summer program in Dallas or will only be taking on a couple of summers.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
