Nope. I'm neither and I'm (between slightly and very) below the 2009 median on all 8 of my callbacks. I've also heard absolutely nothing from every firm for which my GPA is above their 2009 median...

The GPA ranges are an extremely rough guide. Firms have a cut-off. It's lower than the median. If you meet the cutoff, and you have a great interview, you get a callback.

Hmm...I think being an attractive girl probably works against you, particularly if being interviewed by a woman. As for male interviewers, I doubt they want to get a reputation of calling back female 2Ls because the girls are attractive, so I bet they proceed conservatively.

I'm an attractive girl with a gpa way lower than median and only got callbacks from women interviewers.

Come to think of it, I only had a few solo women interview me, and got a call back from each, but didn't get a call back from any firm where a male or male/female combo interviewed me.

Im going to try to refrain from turning this into the Columbia Callback thread, but depends on which scale they are being measured. A lawl skool 9 is at best a real world 6.

CBs at places with much higher median and minimum GPAs for CBs last year. i thought the interview went extremely well. i networked heavily w/ hiring partners I had connections with over the summer and received very positive feedback from them.

Two email dings five minutes apart from Jenner. I guess they wanted to make sure I got the message.

They probably realized that they were not good candidates after calling them back. Perhaps they should have figured that out at OCI.

I know of at least two or three that got callbacks... don't know how those went though.

Perhaps they are learning that GPA alone is not the best indicator. Better to take someone with a lower GPA, but some actual work experience and maturity.

No, I mean more than just 2 yrs. I also don't consider jobs like working at a university or as a social worker to be work experience. If a firm wants people to represent sofisticated clients, wouldn't it be nice to hire people who have represented sofisticated clients. But the average NU student is definitely better than some punk out of college.

Perhaps Jenner preferred students who could represent sophisticated clients and work without spellcheck
