Those that had callbacks already and felt that it didn't go well, what exactly went wrong? Didn't click with interviewer? wasn't articulate enough? made an etiquette mistake?

I think the main thing is who has the most authority over hiring. If that person doesn't like you, you're effed. The problem is, it's not always easy to tell who that person is without inside info. I think maybe I made that person mad. Oh well.

I made a few minor etiquette mistakes and wasn't as articulate as I'd like to have been. I was also really tired and towards the end, I'm sure it started to show. I'm definitely drinking a 5 hour energy before my next one.

Ditto that. I had a partner interviewer who just recently joined the firm, and a senior associate who has been sitting on the hiring committee for years. So who has more sway? Who knows.

It's hard to hit all 4 or 5 interviews. On my first CB I think 2 were great, 1 good, 1 not-so-good, and lunch went by without a hitch. I really think it will all depend on how much say that one person has.

Has anyone else not heard back anything from the majority of their firms? I've only heard back from 6/21....so an expected average of 7 callbacks doesn't mean much to me, unless there are firms who just never get back to you....?

Same here - I've also only heard back from 7/21 (half of the firms I'm still waiting on were last week...).

If you interviewed with smaller offices, I think they take longer. I interviewed with Hughes Hubbard LA (20 lawyers) and because the class size is so small, I was told they don't do callbacks until they've visited multiple campuses.

However, the firms I haven't heard back from are a mixture of large/small, so I'm just confused, because it seems like everything is happening much more slowly for me.

No - almost all were really big offices, and most have gotten back to a lot of people one way or another.

I may be paranoid, but I'd rather not mention firms by name and possibly out myself - they're all big NYC offices, though.

I've heard Cravath sometimes does, but can't independently confirm that.
