Wait, can you please explain...I'm uncertain of what exactly is being described here. If we already received a CB from dechert, and even spoke with someone and scheduled the day, could you still be in danger of having it revoked?NYAssociate wrote:Yes. This typically means your callback is going to be revoked.Anonymous User wrote:Haven't heard back after leaving a message. Is that trouble?

It could be a different partner calling and you just haven't heard yet. FWIW, I know of quite a few people who heard a couple days after everyone else did (and people posted on this thread) b/c their partner was traveling or busy or something.Anonymous User wrote:Anonymous User wrote:Orrick NY office.
Gah, guess I got dinged. Too bad. I had a genuinely great interview.

Anyone know if there's any truth to the idea that some firms keep some candidates "on hold"? (i.e., if you haven't gotten a CB when you know they've gone out, but haven't yet received a rejection letter, is there still some shot?)

Could you be more specific about what the interviewer said to you? I think I got a CB at the interview too, but it was phrased just ambiguously enough to leave room for doubt. Told me they're hoping to make decisions tonight or tomorrow and that he/she will call me as soon as they can. Emphasis on "call."Anonymous User wrote:Confirmed. Re: Columbia EIP 2010 Callbacks Thread
Yeah the interviewer explicitly told me to schedule the CB and gave me the recruiting number. The interviewer also said to tell others that some interviewers will do CB's by phone rather than in person, so don't worry.Anonymous User wrote:Could you be more specific about what the interviewer said to you? Re: Columbia EIP 2010 Callbacks Thread
Talked with career service. Said that firms have at least three groups. Definite yes (immediate callback), definite no (immediate ding), and the middle (neither CB or ding). Middle, unfortunately, is very dependent on how the definite yes respond and pan out. The whole system is very much fucked up.Anonymous User wrote:Anyone know if there's any truth to the idea that some firms keep some candidates "on hold"? Has anyone heard from Sullivan & Cromwell? Several people were told they were making decisions last night, but no one has posted about getting a callback from them yet.
