Re: Yale FIP
Considering your first grades that you actually have are all credit or no-credit... there are no grades by the time you are interviewing for a first summer job so it all comes down to how you look, how you act and how well you interview.Anonymous User wrote:Typically:Anonymous User wrote:So no one answered a previous poster's question. How do firms distinguish between candidates at Yale? Is it really a question of how many H vs. P marks you have? Or is there some other mechanism to decide between candidates?
- 4 Hs puts you in the running for Wachtell, Susman (although they don't participate in FIP), etc
- 3 Hs tends to be good enough for Cravath, Sullivan & Cromwell, etc
- 2 Hs lands you V10-V25
- 1 H will have you looking at V25-V50
- All Ps nabs you V50-V100
- 1+ LP = straight to Cadwalader.
If you are speaking of jobs out of law school then it still comes down to the looks, acts and interviews. I knew two different guys that went to Sullivan and Cromwell... one was a machine that would have killed himself if he had gotten something as low as a pass, the other was a slacker that would have been lucky to have had any honors. BUT they both dressed up nice, and interviewed very well. That's really what matters at Yale, because there are no idiots or even average students there.

Post interview ding. I think they'd sent out other dings already, so guess I made it past some initial round but not to the final callbacks.Anonymous User wrote:Was this a post interview ding, or a post callback ding?dbt wrote:W&C ding via mail.

Less than a week ago. It was really quick turn-around, and the lady is really nice/they seem to like Yalies a lot.rynabrius wrote:I wonder, when did you send the email? Thanks.Anonymous wrote:W&C ding via mail.

Re: Yale FIP
Maybe so. Or perhaps they just took a little longer to send it because you made such a bland impression they forgot you had interviewed.dbt wrote:Post interview ding. $hit. But you interviewed through Yale, right? So maybe the absence of a CB for me doesn't mean anything yet.Anonymous User wrote:Boston.

Surely with early FIP someone at YLS has gotten an actual offer. Please share so that those of us not so fortunate as to live in New Haven can be uber jealous.

Yes, there are multiple confirmed offers from V5 and V10 firms. The tough part is deciding which one to accept.Anonymous User wrote:Surely with early FIP someone at YLS has gotten an actual offer. Please share so that those of us not so fortunate as to live in New Haven can be uber jealous.

But I noticed firms are taking a little bit more time getting back after a CB. Perhaps they want to do more interviews to cover as many qualified candidates as they can before giving out offers that might miss them earlier.
