Just always remember that those big numbers come with certain expectations (i.e., attrition, either voluntary or involuntary, etc.).
Do you think it's safe to hope/assume that they'll at least make more than 40 offers though? I thought that the associate class:offer ratio has jumped recently, closer to pre-ITE percentages, now that firms have shaken off the confusion, & that an increase in class probably means an increase in offers???

yes, these firms do not want to no offer. they are recruiting bigger classes with the expectation of giving almost everyone offers. just look at the firms this year already offering close to 100%.

On autoadmit, a poster was saying that a partner and chair of a hiring committee at a V100 firm expects recruitment for 2012 summer to be much greater than even this year. That would be a good sign if lower-ranked firms also pushed up their class sizes. Very good news.

This is excellent news for a medianish at MVP like myself. With the very top firms looking like they are going to hire about 200 or so additional summers compared to last year, people in my position look to have some hope of landing something at OCI.

TBF, I think this is actually credited. While medianish at MVP will still not be a shoe-in, I think these candidates will benefit the most from the increases at Cravath, Weil, Cleary, etc. (Note: they won't end up at these firms, but will get jobs via the trickle down effect).

How much does a V10 firm's preselect mean (for an off-campus job fair)? Do V10 summer classes have mid-T1/top 5%/LR people in them, or are such interviews a pipe dream?
