I have never heard of a callback coming by email. Has anybody else?

I got three callback offers yesterday, but I missed one of the calls. They followed up with an email. I doubt they would just email without the call.

I've had two smaller firms email me with instructions to call them to set up times for callback interviews.

I got all my spring callbacks via email. Maybe its just patent firms who know that nobody uses phones anymore?

you're not f'd. I have what's allegedly a good "background" for IP (bs/ms ee) and I went to a great school for law (Northwestern) with great grades - I have received one ding by e-mail, and no communication whatsoever from anybody - chirp chirp.

I'm not sure what your definition of f'd is - its not like you're going to get a better job if you get a callback earlier - you're gonna get "A" job in the IP industry unless you have no technical connections or legal connections whatsoever - you don't "win" if you get 20 offers - versus some guy who got 1 offer at a great firm - you both end up being basically invisible hamsters in some wheel

Firm's hiring logistics are out of your control, and heck - sometimes out of THEIR control - you can drive yourself neurotic by comparing other peopls' callback stats - it seems really - REALLY - pointless imo.

10 years from now - you'll be a-okay, and that's really what SHOULD matter.

don't worry - you'll find your wheel young hamster.. don't worry :-)

so far 2 CB, both by phone, nothing else. 1 CB was promised in the interview, one was a bit of a surprise.

For those worrying, I ended up with ~14 CBs from PLIP last year and I only had 1-2 CBs by this time last year. Relax and give it some time.

Relax. I got my first CB today (~V50) and I was the first person on their callback schedule.

I have a very strong resume (a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, have passed the patent bar, ranked in the top 10 at a top 50 school) and felt that most of my interviews went very well. Most were very conversational and enjoyable. I had one interviewer tell me: "good luck with the rest of your interviews, not that you will need it." I had 16 interviews, and have only heard back from one firm (a rejection) that does not do much biotech work (not sure why they chose to interview me). I think its easy to worry about not hearing back, but until we get rejections it is pointless to spend time obsessing about what it all means (I know I know, this is easier said than done).

Another thing to consider is the mix of firms you interviewed with. I'd imagine the bigger firms that were interviewing tons of people would take more time to get back to you.

Again, don't worry be happy. It is still really early. So long as you have not had 75% of your firms already ding you, I wouldn't stress. As the other posters have said, every firm's timeline is different.

As for more results: One ding by email two days ago, one call back by phone this morning. The ding was not a surprise: it was my first interview of the program and I wasn't really feeling the firm, so the interview was rather lackluster. The callback wasn't exactly a surprise either (I thought that interview was my best performance of the program), but I am still really excited about it, since it was my definite favorite from that day.

And I don't think this will out me, so I guess I can say the ding was Wilmer Hale. I would rather not say the callback firm yet, since it happened this morning.

It's too early to start thinking about dings.

Has anyone heard from Finnegan, Kenyon, or Goodwin Procter?

I've been dinged from screening interviews by snail mail before, and I have heard it's fairly common practice. (Experience not from the patent fair, however).

Snail mail is so pointless.
