Transcript update?

Post by Anonymous User » Thu Jul 15, 2010 8:52 pm

I was offered an early interview (pre-OCI) for a summer 2011 SA position at a big firm. I was offered said interview in March of spring semester, and scheduled for this August during April. (They interview once their summer program is over). Clearly, they didn't have my spring grades when they offered the interview, and have not asked for an updated transcript. Do I send them one/bring it to my interview, or ask them if they want it? (or do nothing?)

Full disclosure: Fall grades slighty below median (what they have), and spring grades are worse.

Bring it, give it only if asked.

I call flame. How did you get a call-back offer before OCI? In this economy, with those grades? Is your daddy a senator or something?

I know a dude who managed this. Through connections... good for him, I say. Always better to get a job through connections than the old fashioned way which involves sweat and luck.

In any case: no need to provide a transcript unless they ask. Don't sweat it.

We're all agreeing with you and making fun of the other guy.

Yeah, I am not a flame, OP here. Actually a regular poster. Met a partner at a dinner, and received a call a few weeks later. I guess that is "through connections." Also, maybe I overstated big law. Large IP boutique with >300 attorneys, if that makes it less flame-y.

Dude, good for you. That is the way to network. Well done. Keep doing that throughout your life and things will go well for you.

Don't worry about the transcript until they ask for it. Sounds to me like you are golden.

I wasn't knocking the OP, sorry if that came off as harsh. It is good for him. I need to start going to dinners where partners are.

FTFY.

It was just an event hosted by my school. Nothing extra special. Even though it is harder, my technique has been to talk to partners more than associates at such events. *shrug*
