grade cutoffs
at what point are you unemployable--below median? below top 10%?

To give OP a real answer: It depends on what school you attend. Median at a T6 isn't going to hurt nearly as much as median at Cooley. Where are you going to school?

For OCI & from fancy schools: I know people with top 15% grades at a T10 who struck out. I know people who landed 1L firm jobs with sub-median grades. Clearly, better grades increased the likelihood of success by increasing the number of options. But pouring over my T10's data it is clear that you never become unemployable OR sure-fire employable in the big firm / clerkship racket.
For all points south of OCI/fancy schools: top 10% is a good cutoff for the OCI/clerkship game, but there will always be exceptions. And it's not like top 9% will dominate while top 11% panhandles on the streets, either. It's just a matter of probabilities over groups.
