I know there's a file out there for this data, not sure how to find it.
I'm interested in figuring out if I have a real shot at this firm, I got a callback recently.
Irell's historically had a relatively high offer-to-callback ratio. They are incredibly grade-conscious though, even at the CB stage. If you have better grades than the average Boalt CB, the offer's probably yours to lose.

If I don't get something today (call or mail) it will be a week of total radio silence, anyone else? Also, anyone heard from Skadden LA?

This week was bound to be pretty weak with CBs. Labor Day + Jewish holidays meant firms basically had Tuesday and Wednesday to make callbacks, unless it was one of the really WASPY firms.

I think that if you haven't heard within a week, it's probably a rejection. I'm not holding out hope from the 3 I haven't heard from.

not at Berkeley, but this seems a little pessimistic. Some firms just move much slower, and simply haven't given out any offers yet.

Just sayin' - all the callbacks I've gotten so far have been within a week.

Regarding Irell: does anyone know actual data on number of callbacks from the 2010 cycle? I used to have this file, I don't anymore.

Just got a callback from a Phase I interview today. All is not lost...(though I admit to have given up hope on my Phase Is that I hadn't heard from (now down to 5)).

Could it do with the bar graph on their recruiting flyer outside their interview room showing how much above market they pay?

It could. Irell is smart to publish that info and put it out there. It signals how strong they are financially, which is a big deal for students choosing between law firms in this environment.

I guess if that's worth your quality of life... plus all that extra above market money is going to be marginally taxed at ~50% under the Obama admin, so divide the extra by 2.

Irell also has a very low partner to associate ratio, that's a very big factor to consider.

I love the people considering partnership opportunities, what makes you different than the 2/3rds of associates who attrition out to somewhere else within 5 years?

ah, no, I'm not going into a summer internship with goals of partnership, my point was - cases get staffed leaner in firms like Irell where the Partner-to-assoc ratio is low. Plus, you get more face time with partners, as opposed to senior associates, relative to firms where partner-associate ratio is ridiculous.

That was my point.

Its very hard to make partner at Irell, or any other big law firm for that matter.
