Assuming solid performance otherwise, would failure to bring in clients get you the boot?

Most definitely not. As a senior associate, you likely will not have been in the position to bring in new clients. You can develop your personal/professional networks to create opportunities, but the inability to bring in new business is not a strike against you at that level. Just IMO.

Very few associates have clients unless they are on the cusp of partnership.
