OCI prospects: slightly above median at top 11-14

Postby Anonymous User » Thu Jun 17, 2010 2:38 pm

So I did not do as well as I hoped my first year. I ended up with a 3.28 at a top 11-14 and I am guessing it will put me just above median. I have read that in this economy only top 33% can reasonably anticipate an offer coming from OCI? If so, what the hell should my game plan be assuming I want to work at a firm? Do I have a decent shot at landing a few call backs if I interview well? Should I just bank on trying to get a job via mass mailing smaller firms that are not coming to OCI?

Thanks for any suggestions

there

I'm thinking that 3.28 may be below median.

As to your question,

I'm sure that you could swing a non-NLJ250 firm or two if it came down to it because your gpa is still pretty high (unless you go to Northwestern).

So should I not even bother with OCI then?

thanks a lot for the post

What do you mean by this?

Make sure you're smart about bidding on markets. This information will give you an advantage - I know a lot of people who are about to 'wing it' during fall recruiting, you really don't want to be in that camp.

You mean make sure I have ties/connections to the erea?
If so, what the hell am I supposed to do if I grew up in rural X and have no family members living in even relatively large cities? Do I just come up with some convincing story about why I reeaaally want to live in big city X or some secondary market?

It just occurred to me that there are no smileys without open mouths.
