DF, GTFO. I've told you now at least 3 times you are biglaw SECURE. You're shaking my faith in you.
The problem is I believe it.
That your hubris will be your downfall or that you are biglaw secure?

Remember, folks, if T10 gets you a 50% chance at biglaw, you're probably better served taking your law school tuition $$'s to a Vegas roulette wheel and throwing it all on red/black. There, your fortunes will be decided in a matter of seconds and even if you lose everything, you won't forego 3 years of income and the experience you'll gain from building a career in another field.

even if one doesn't get big law, they dont end up with nothing. they can start a career at 40k/50k with the potential of increased salary after years of experience. if you lose your tuition money playing roulette you're way more screwed. i know one could fall back on their undergrad degrees but most potential lawyers have liberal arts degree which usually get those who possess them jobs starting out at 20k/30k.

Your comments and advice in the area of networking are dead-on but I don't think we're seeing a major paradigm shift as it relates to Biglaw. Firms have cut back considerably (just as they hired overzealously in the build-up) but I do think given what I've read on ATL (i.e. salary true-ups, positive signs leading into OCI, etc.) suggest that the horrors we saw this past year were more the symptoms of a bad economy than the signs of a sea change.

I might be wrong and I will admit as much if your forecasts prove more predictive. Until then, I'm placing my faith in the Cravath model.
Wait ATL says its dead so NOW IT HAS TO BE TRUZE!!!! :P

Except that the government won't spot you 200k to play roulette with the option that if you lose you can work for them and pay 15% of your paycheck for 10 years and call it even.

I love how you presume that while legal field sucks others are just fkn rosey. The majority of jobs for BA/BS grads are completely bullshit with extremely limited opportunity for "development/growth"

If the current (or past) model is getting dropped doesn't that mean that the huge unemployment is a short term issue, but that depressed big law salaries are the long term issue?

I don't give two shits about big law salaries, but unemployment is obviously another matter. But, even if corporations aren't willing to pay for high priced noobs, and if firms won't pay out the same amount of salary there is still about the same amount of work for about the same number of lawyers.

Just want to make sure that we aren't confusing the disappearance of BigLaw starting salaries with the disappearance of law jobs in general

Over/under on the number of your posts on TLS that are about your tiny pink 3.9+?

-.-
Isn't a 3.9 at NU median, considering the grade curve?
