True...but i highly doubt that a NU student with 0 years of WE, will do better in finding a job than say..a WashU student with 4 years of solid WE

No i am saying WUSTL +5yrsWE > NU + OyrsWE

Lol this is retarded. This isn't how the real world works. WE in your field trumps all. WE in some random other thing...who the fuck cares?

He is not right.

I love it when the T14 students paying 200k for a degree think they are right...

that will be just fine as well...i don't owe anyone 200k[/quote]

This is actually where I agree somewhat. If you are okay with small firm pay, taking the money is the best choice. But I can already earn small firm pay, I'm big law or bust.

For me, no debt and working a small firm is epic fail. For it is a win. Since we have different expected outcomes the best investiment will be different.

Trust me we both have the same expected outcome...i am not leaving a job making 90k to get a small firm pay....i just won't pay 200k to get to that outcome.....

Ok, fine, so you're going to Law School now, and you already have experience in law? As what, a paralegal!? You've got to be kidding me if you think anything you can do without a law degree counts as WE for the purposes of BigLaw hiring.

Do you happen to be a patent agent?

Because that is one of the few exceptions to the general rule. Because you get real job experience for the job you seeking.

I wasn't really conceding anything. Just picking my spots and chose not to focus on this since it didn't seem relevant to the initial position that was taken.

Yes, you are better for it. We are all better for it.

Now, for those of you who have not been deemed BigLaw or T20 Secure (redundant since those two things are now synonymous), please go ahead and

Seriously... how f*cked are we? I am as depressed and pessimistic now as I have been throughout this entire cycle (not because of this article... just a lot of shit building up). I feel like I am walking into a minefield.

nah dude, our lives aren't already ruined. We just need to be realistic about things. Don't be like this idiot who thinks he's guaranteed 160K out of UIUC because he has an MS in software design.

So I missed a lot of this thread, but it is of interest to me. Did people ever come to a conclusion about whether T20 means T17/18 or goes all the way down to an Emory-ish area?

Sigh.

Factors in relative order that bear on getting a 2L SA at a market paying firm:

1) The school you attend
.
.
2) The Grades you achieved at that school, your racial status (bump for URMs)
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
(this space for rent)
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
(* crickets chirping* )
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
3) Substantial and/or relevant work experience, substantial legal softs (prestigious 1L gig, etc)
.
.
4) Undergrad, clubs, etc.

Well at least you'll have that JD degree hanging on the wall in 4 years when you're back designing software. Totally worth 3 years of lost wages plus the money school will cost you imo.

Definitely better than 200k+ in debt and making 50k.

Scholarship recipients have to be thankful for those paying sticker, who I guess somewhat subsidize those scholarships.
