Credit Report for Internships

Post by squ1rtle » Sun Mar 07, 2010 6:01 pm

I have a home foreclosure from over 4 years ago under my name. The foreclosure is due to fall off of my credit report in a few years so it should not affect me after I graduate. However, I was wondering how badly would this affect my chances at getting summer internships during school. I am hoping to become a prosecutor. Do DA offices run credit checks for interns? If so, will my foreclosure kill all my chances of landing a DA summer gig?

Some employers (like DOJ/USAO) will. But they aren't judging you as a credit risk, they want to see you don't have any currently defaulted debts that a mobster or banker could leverage against you for favors.

I would think they'd expect everyone to have that.
