Anyone know about the firm other than the fact they are Korean? Any reputation?

KIM & CHANG is arguably the best law firm in Korea.

Only a handful of the top ranking students that pass the Korean Bar Exam (which takes around 2 yrs minimum of study to pass) get offers. And maybe some Ivy law school graduates.

If you work at KIM & CHANG you are considered as one of the top elites in the Korean society.

Considering how smart Koreans are in general, people at KIM & CHANG are very very smart.( and seriously hard working)

And since every Korean knows this, I'm guessing OP is not Korean. No?

lol I'm not sure. Though I went to a HS full of Krns and most were not hard working. I'm guessing you're Krn and take offense to the stereotypes?

Seriously dude? Ignorance always manages to tick me off...

Anyhoo, Kim and Chang is the most prestigious law firm in South Korea. They are highly selective and only the top grads from the top schools are chosen. It's perhaps the WLRK of South Korea. Are you planning on working for them in the future?

In addition to being prestigious, as far as foreign firms go, Kim & Chang is one of the better ones to deal with when you need a foreign counsel.

I do a lot of work for the Korea practice group at my law firm and can say, without a doubt, that Kim & Chang is the undisputed leader. They're the Wachtell/Slaughter of the Korean legal services industry and the firm that everyone else looks up to. IMO if you make partner at Kim & Chang that is pretty much the endgame in Korea as far as a career in law goes.

Some other big name Korean firms are Lee & Ko, Bae Kim & Lee, Shin & Kim, and Yulchon. There is also a firm called Kim Chang & Lee, which should not be confused with Kim & Chang.

You can click through the categories here and see that Kim & Chang is the only one that ranked in the top band in every practice.

Hope this helps.

Thanks yall, except the ignorant poster. This threat is becoming extremely helpful and enjoyable.

1. Yes I am Korean
2. I'm asking about Kim&Chang because my parents were talking about them
3. I lived in the States for 15 years (I am 22 right now) so I'm not sure of anything about South Korea.
4. I would love to work for them (according to my parents the place is basically a stairwell to wealth and prestige in South Korea).
5. Anyone on TLS working there?
6. My potential law school has no shot at that place (IMHO).

Does your avatar indicate UM Law? If so, and you are broken, I must be decimated.
