and this: --LinkRemoved--

might be more helpful. The firm is established in several east coast markets, and Philadelphia in particular. That said, it treated members of its 2009 summer class shamefully and people ought to know.

what exactly do you mean? the 50% offer rate? they weren't the only firm that did that....I am going to be working there this summer, so maybe I'll have more to say in a few months. As it is, I liked the people I met there, and my friend who worked there this past summer (did get an offer) had good things to say.

no...it's that they put their associates on 'hold' to see if they could get better 3L associates who were no offered elsewhere. Essentially they wanted to upgrade their former summers for better folks.

^ Right. Smart students with options at lots of different firms chose Dechert at fall 2008 OCI. They could've gone elsewhere -- perhaps even to "better" firms. But they chose Decert either because they liked the people, the firm culture, the firm's practices, or its Philadelphia roots. Then, after the summer program was over, the firm flipped on half or more of its summer class and went shopping for shinier objects. Why? Because ITE, they could. If you can't see the massive flaw in what the firm did there, then I'm afraid I can't help. And if you're summering there in 2010, then take a moment to put yourself behind the veil of ignorance for a moment. Pretent you've finished the SA program, done good work, and now you're waiting on an offer decision. 3L OCI is still non-existent and clerkship applications are through the roof. Basically, you've got a coinflip on your short- (and perhaps long-) term biglaw career.
