Cannot recall the location, but a major problem with OneNote and printing outlines is page breaks. A copy and paste to word will work, but the outline levels can be screwy. 2010 uses the SKyDrive method, which I suppose is the Cloud. So, if you do not bring your laptop, you can access your note through the web. I do not use it, but I've heard about people using it frequently. DropBox, for me, is the best back-up.

I second Dropbox.

It's SubVersion, except without the nerd factor built-in.

Look, all you need to know is.. not only does it back up your stuff, it versions them per save up to a certain time.

I have been using one note for my notes. I'm not really using any fancy art. However, my class outline sections have started to lag to the point where its challenging to type. Anyone know how to fix this or why its occurring? I have a pretty fast comp although it is a low voltage processor. Thanks!

Are you inking the notes or just typing? If inking, then use the convert to text option. If typing, collapse the outline to just the area you're working on. You should use the send to word option for the final polishes for each section.

I use OneNote, but my set up is much more simple than yours. I basically have the following sections in each notebook (1 notebook for class and 1 misc notebook):
1. Syllabus
2. Handouts (scan them in here)
3. Notes
4. Case Briefs (No longer use this since I don't type out briefs anymore)
5. Outline


Each section has multiple pages. I tend to take notes by topic so my Notes section tends to have 1 page for each topic. Every so often I consolidate my Notes into my Outline section. You are obviously a much more experienced OneNote user than I am. Still, I would go crazy if I had so many sections in my OneNote Notebooks.

Anyways, to each his own. Your guide is very detailed so it will definitely help newer OneNote users.

Hoover the mouse over the topic and a little box to the left will appear, double click to collapse. Funny, word has had this capability for years. I have a shit ton to add to this post first half of one-hell.

Supposedly Microsoft is working on it. There are alternatives, but nothing that comes close to being as good. For now, use VMWare/Parallels, it's worth it.

I hear Parallel uses up a lot of memory? Should I get a 15" with a different processor then? I have a 13" right now...probably will get a new laptop soon but I like the size

useful stuff. i've got a mac, but i used bootcamp (windows) for a cpa exam prep, so i'll just use windows again for one note. should do the trick, even though its a pain to switch back and forth

I have used both Parallels and VMWare and I find that VMWare less frequently gives me a pinwheel. I would recommend 8GB of memory if you have the money. I have 4 in a MacBook Pro and it works well, but still get the pinwheel now and again. A friend of mine has 8GB and he says he never has that problem. Of course, it is a bit more money.....
