Can I get some recommendations for housing near Camden? I am from California so don't know much about the surrounding areas. I have been looking at apartments in Cherry Hill and Marlton.
Thankssss

I'm waitlisted at Rutgers Camden. I don't know what you're thinking but if I get accepted I'm probably gonna go for the on-campus housing. Camden NJ was rated as the second most dangerous city in the country in 2008. Thought you should know if you don't already.

hi,

I got a late admission/scholarship offer and am seriously considering heading to Camden. I'm a little thrown by the prospect of actually living in Camden, though. I hear it's a hellhole. Does anyone live around there now? Is it really as bad as ex-NJians in my state make it sound?

I live in South Jersey about 20 minutes away from Camden so i've been there alot, plus my dad works in Camden. The campus is not bad like the surrounding city so living on campus or close to it like Cherry Hill or Marlton (very nice areas by the way) is fine. The Victor Lofts are very nice but can get pricey depending on what you are looking for. I'm living at home for the first year to save some money but then trying to get an apartment in Cherry Hill or other nice surrounding towns. But bottom line, the city itself is pretty dangerous. However, the campus itself is not (from what I have heard and seen). During the day, it actually looks good. Plus, you're right across the bridge from Philly (for fun and jobs) and there's a lot of South Jersey towns that are nice to live in that are conveniently located near Camden. I'm very excited to start!

Hello Rutgers-Camden c/o 2012

I just saw this thread and thought I'd stop by. I see you guys are just getting started.
Congrats to all of you that were admitted. Maybe the RU-C and RU-N c/o 2012 will have to plan meet up
Maybe Football or Basketball in New Brunswick :D
