Check your junk mail box. For some reason, most of the correspondence I get from LSU goes to my junk box.

It's a prepatory class, I assume. It starts on July 20th and runs through August 7th from 8am - 3pm daily. It is free, but counts for 3 hours towards your degree. It's called "Legal Methods".

You should have had one e-mail from admissions on June 9th just advising you to save the dates, then a formal invite from Daphne on June 10th. I copied Daphne's e-mail below.

Oh, and yes - that is me on facebook. Thanks for the add.

Congratulations on your admission to the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center . Law study will almost certainly prove to be the most intellectually challenging enterprise you have ever attempted. In an effort to smooth the transition, the Faculty Committee on Admissions would like to invite you to participate in a course in Legal Methods to be held at the Law Center from July 20-August 7, 2009.

This course, offered without charge, will focus on the development of the study skills necessary for law school success. Legal Methods will be taught by the two of us, who combined have over forty years of teaching experience. Morning sessions will utilize the traditional law school classroom format and will concentrate on how to study and synthesize court opinions, and to apply them to legal problems. As well, considerable attention will be paid to statutory construction and interpretation, skills vital to success in the first year of law school. Afternoons will be devoted to studying law student skills such as case briefing, outlining, and legal writing.

Successful completion of Legal Methods will result in the award of 3 credit hours which may be applied toward law school graduation. The workload is substantial but past experience suggests that the payoff is well worth the effort. We urge you to participate and look forward to seeing you in July. An RSVP form is attached. If you need further information, please contact Daphne A. James in the Office of Admissions at 225-578-8646 or Daphne.James@law.lsu.edu.

Hmm I didn't receive this email.. and I don't have enough time to prepare to move down there in time for it. I will enjoy the sun while you enjoy 3 credits.

You forgot something.... 3 FREE credits! Free!!! Yay!

I wasn't really prepared for it either, but we went up to Baton Rouge this weekend and found an apartment. It's the Enclave at Cedar Lodge, just off of College. Great pool, so I will enjoy the sun, too, just after 3pm!

Awww stop rubbing it in. I'll enjoy my fair state of the economically-deprived (Michigan) until then!

What section did you get? I'm #2. Great schedule, actually - half day on Friday and late starts on two mornings during the week.

That sucks. I'm 8am on Mon and Weds, 9am on Th and Fr and 10AM on Tues!!

Don't feel bad, though - one of our associates at the firm graduated from LSU a few years ago and he had most of the professors section 2 has and he said they were very tough. Maybe you had better luck.
