Wait, is this the guy who did admitted student weekend? I'm not so much a fan of the early hour and a half class section and being the only group doing torts, but I guess with the right amount of caffeine it will all be fine.

Richman was the guy wearing the blazer and khakis who did the Contracts part. I think Coleman did the other half.

I'm not stoked about Torts either, especially with a visiting professor, but it'll work out I guess.

Still have LRW to figure out, but it looks like the possiblity of nothing on Fridays....one listing of the Torts class I saw said Fridays were makeups only.

Oh yay, I really liked that guy too. He seemed pretty entertaining enough to possibility make up for the long early morning :). Plus we can all claim the free pass on cold calling that he promised to the student who talked at ASW. The torts makeup thing is interesting too. Maybe section 6 will actually be a blessing.

Section 6

Looks like our section has a good showing on TLS. How about people keep posting and we will compile a list once we have more? And did someone say Fridays for Section 6 are make-up... where does it say that?

On the course schedule page http://www.law.duke.edu/curriculum/schedulefall09, it says:

180.01 Torts 1L Small Sections 1 & 6 4.5 Leticia Saucedo M-F 1:30 - 2:30 pm (Fri m/u) 3037 Unavailable

I am making the assumption that "Fri m/u" means Friday makeup; we had classes like this in undergrad where it met every day M-Th and when the professor needed to cancel class on one of those weekdays s/he would say so a week or so ahead of time and it would meet on Friday that week.

Nothing official though.

Section 4 here, as well. I like the idea of a 10 am happy hour, though we may just have to brown bag it in the commons.

Hey Dresq, one of my housemates and I are both section 5 as well. Not sure how I feel about having class at 8:45 every morning, but at least we get all our classes done in one big block. We should be done with class by 2 every day, and by noon on Thursday and Friday. You know anything about Professors Blocher, Reichman, or Buell yet?

Remember though, two days a week 10 am is going to be legal writing.

How should we figure out which legal writing section we have?

Wait. Apparently they were on ACES earlier but they were all pulled off this morning. I assume once they have them figured out again they will tell us.

Looks like I'm in section 5 with Dresq and Bosque.

120.02 Con Law -- Joseph Blocker
140.01 Crim Law -- Samuel Buell
130.02 Contracts -- Jerome Reichman
160A.05 Legal R/W -- Topulos/Ragazzo

8:45 classes every day is severely disappointing.

Has anyone determined the best option for purchasing books and supplements yet?

Oh, and I'll be moving down to Durham on Thursday, excited to meet everyone.

sweet, got the M/Th LARW, so that really does leave Friday essentially empty.

Monday is a friggin haul though, all 4 classes, 8:25-4:21.

Looks like us section 6-ers have class Monday through Friday after all...the Friday class doesn't appear on aces to be a make up day...

Edit: Wait, wiseowl, how do you figure that Friday is empty?

Obviously we won't know anything until we get the syllabus in our hands on the 24th, but I doubt that ACES would be able to distinguish whether a given day was a make up day or not.

Further, we are supposed to keep that time on Friday free, whether we actually have class that day or not.

We probably will have class every so often on Fridays, but my guess is that we will have it free a lot of the time. After all, it is only a 4.5 credit hour class; why be in class 5 hours a week every week?

Looks like my Fridays are going to mainly be spent getting ready for the 16 hours of hell Monday and Tuesday anyway.

Alright, so unfortunately the last 1L gathering was apparently last saturday and I missed it since I havent moved yet.

Is anyone interested in meeting up this Saturday evening for a "let me tell you about myself over this mydrinkofchoice" (assuming several of us have not moved yet or moved after the last gathering)?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
