Several of my books were on B&N for cheaper; however, some of them say "available in 1-2 weeks" which means they likely won't arrive in time for class. But if they are immediately available, B&N has a pretty nice promotion which makes their prices $5-25ish cheaper than the bookstore.

epstein is like 115 used at the bookstore.....some used books are in better condition than others, but i apparently got one used by a slacker who never cracked it open.

also, when comparing prices online keep in mind you wont pay tax at the nyu bookstore but you will if you buy them off amazon or barnes and noble.

I got the Epstein torts casebook used online for like 70 bucks at abebooks.com. However it says its got substantial wear and tear and "excessive highlighting". That could be a problem or possibly even helpful if the previous owner knew what he was doing.

That would make sense heh.

Went and got my big casebooks today so that I could get em broken down. Everything else I'm gonna scrounge around for online.

Broken down meaning split in half/thirds/w.e?

If so, where did you get that done?

Also if anyone else is like me and weak, I found a print shop that will break down the big casebooks into 4 small ones and rebind them for $15 each. They also keep the main binding and the smaller ones fit inside it so on your shelf it will still look like a regular casebook. It's next to the subway(sandwiches not train) on LaGuardia off W 3rd.

Are any of you still on for getting a drink or two tomorrow night (Monday)? If so, should we pick a time and place? The only places I know close to Washington Square are Shade (http://nymag.com/listings/bar/shade/) and V Bar (http://www.vbar.net/). Both would work for a small group, I think.

I can make it later at night (after 11) otherwise I'm still at work.

Sounds good to me - both bars look like a good time. I'll likely be bringing a guest, too. How about 9 or so?

I have to construct an entire apts worth of ikea furniture tomorrow....and go to an international students orientation where they tell me how to live in America. Whoo.

If I am done by 9, I will try and make it! Would also be bringing a guest probably.

Can we order used books on the Professional Bookstore website? I'm only seeing new prices?

Also, if a professor requires more than just the casebook, are these usually supplements/hornbooks? I don't know if I should also order some of the supplements other people have recommended, like Chirelstein for Contracts or Glannon for CivPro, or if the recommended books by the professor are enough?

Should we say 9:30, if badfish can't make it until 11:00? Let's go for Shade and if it's crowded or we don't like it we can try the other place.

Hey D'Ag people:

What kind of fire detectors are installed? Smoke/heat? I like to burn incense but don't want to set the building off.

In the shopping cart (after you pick the books) there is an option to get used books if possible. No prices though.
