are they @law.nyu.edu addresses, or just regular @nyu.edu addresses?

just curious, to see if I need to set up a new one or if my existing one will suffice.

just at @nyu.edu

and just FYI for anyone who doesn't already know this, they assign the address like abc1002@nyu.edu but you can change it to something else like johnsmith@nyu.edu if you don't want to have your initials and random numbers as your email (or you can just continue to use your gmail and forward all your nyu mail there like I did) but it is nice to have the @nyu for more business related purposes I guess.

I still get this:

Only current members of the NYU community are eligible to use
this function. Please make sure you have entered your NetID
(which looks like "aqe123") and not your University ID Number
(which looks like "N12345678"). For more help please contact
the ITS Client Services Center at 1.212.998.3333.

And I sent in my deposit on the 15th and just got an email saying that I should set it up. Anyone else having problems? Do you have to enter your SSN in some weird way?

I had problems getting in too (they have my DOB wrong, it seems), but I called the number and they fixed it for me.

Still waiting for access to set up my NetID. Alas...

It would be convenient to live in campus housing, but expensive as well. So I thought I would write a "roomate wanted" post to see if anybody was interested in finding an apartment in the neighborhood with one or two roommates. Here are some qualities that my friends currently in the room use to describe me:

1. I am a 22 year old male-- (only looking for fellow male roomates, sorry ladies I already have a girlfriend)

Disappointment abounds in the NYU 2012 thread

Finally some good news! I really didn't like the thought of my initials and random numbers, so I'm glad I can change it. Although, let's be honest, how can I ooze pretentiousness if I don't have an @law.nyu.edu email address?!

You could do:

yournameTHEFUTURELAWYER@nyu.edu

Or something like that heh

Also for people who still cant get their net id, i called and they said that the office seems to have been premature with sending out the email as the system hasnt been updated yet

i am having a similar issue. i called them and they said i wasnt in the system yet and should contact admissions. i think these problems are pretty common, you should call ITS and they will check for you.

Also, I've decided I like you.

Reason 2489785 to go to NYU: It's where Blair Waldorf will be going on Gossip Girl.

If that's not reason enough...???

Just sent my deposit in!

Hell yeah!

One quick question: did everyone get confirmation that their payment had been received right away? It's been a half hour and I haven't gotten that comforting follow-up email ... it's making me nervous, especially since I'm withdrawing from a bunch of other schools right now.

I sent my check by mail, but it took about 10 days before they emailed me.

How long after you receive the Net ID email will the system allow you to set up your email address? I received the email on Monday and I am still getting the error message when I try to set up my email address: "Only current members of the NYU community are eligible to use this function".

Just wanted to tell everyone that I submitted my intent to enroll for last week and will be going to NYU in August. I'm still waiting for the confirmation email so I can set up my NYU email and get the housing sorted out. Speaking of which, does anyone have any advice in regards to housing? The on campus apartments are ridiculously small and cost a fortune.

Anyways, I hope to see you all this fall!

Actually, I never even got the email from the charge company. I called the charge company and NYU about three days after I made the deposit, however, and they both said the payment went through and I'd get the instructions to set up my email account in about a week.

So if you got to that final screen where they said they'd email you, I think you're okay, but call tomorrow to make sure.

I am able to obtain my Net ID now but when I try to activate it, I get a message that says Internal Service Error. I called the ITS support and they said you have to wait 24 hours between when your Net ID is issued and when you can activate it. If you get the message, wait a day before activating. I'll let you know if it works tomorrow or not.

And yet when I call they say I'm not in the system yet. Grr.

Just sent my deposit in as well.

Can't wait for September to roll around (though I'm sure that feeling will disappear soon after we start)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
