Boston, NYC, Denver or Chicago. Gotta have a decent hockey team and a good legal market to make some cash.

Portland or Seattle mid-sized firm followed by maybe some in-house work or government work.

Whatever decent sized market will employ me for a confortable living wage and hopefully isn't too cold or crime ridden.

Doing Int'l Business, practicing in SD, SF, Paris, or Holland. I don't care about money, really; I'm more interested in quality of life, i.e. not being miserable.

Re: Where do you wanna end up?
It seems like a lot of people pick cities without much regard to where their families live which I find surprising.

I've thought about it some more, and if not Deb, I'd love to be part of a multi-generational space flight...

Re: Where do you wanna end up?
Agreed, SoftBoiled, for me I really want to stay in the area where my family and friends live. I think my quality of life would be significantly lower otherwise. I do think that in general, family ties are becoming less strong in American culture. This is especially pronounced I believe in cities like NYC while maybe not so much so in the midwest. Interesting.

Are family ties necessarily a good thing?7475787905 wrote:Agreed, SoftBoiled, for me I really want to stay in the area where my family and friends live. Re: Where do you wanna end up?
Aren't there studies proving that quality of life plummets when people are cut off from kin networks (either biologically based or groups of friends?)
I currently split time between the Bay Area (Palo Alto) and NYC, so I could see doing either, but the COL would be lower, marginally in CA. Thinking of following my dad into state government work. I guess it couldn't hurt to have my ticket stamped with a year or two of biglaw, but any longer and I would likely killself.
Ideal resting place? semi-retired, and working as a pro bono counsel to a fine arts institute. (San Francisco Opera?) I will work hard, but I want to be able to travel and write.

CA's Central Valley doing public interest work that doesn't involve Legal Services Corp. (wish me luck), because it seems strange that in one of the world's most abundant agricultural areas hardly anyone can actually represent farmworkers.
