I can't guarantee this--maybe your Bigelows will get off their butts more often than ours did--but I highly doubt you'll meet for LRW more than once per week. (And most weeks you won't meet at all.) The other session is just for make-up/Q&A before the memos are due, etc.. So don't worry about any conflicts. You can sort them out when you're scheduling the Q&A session or whatever.

Russian Girl, 5th edition is probably fine. It won't have Twombly's version of notice pleading, but you'll go over that in class. And there are three copies of the 6th ed on permanent reserve in the library.

Cool, thanks. I figure if it's just one or two readings, I can borrow the 6th from my roomie who's in my section as well.

Seal, good work!

Section C. Dixon at 930 or Ben-Shahar at 830 everyday. Worst case scenario for a non-morning person. Same early times for section B and F I guess though.

I'm not bringing my laptop, just a notebook. But then again I've generally not used my laptop to take notes anyway.

Many of the people in our class are dating, or have dated, fellow classmates. Just wait.

Anyone know where to find the reading assignments listed for Dixon's Elements?

Do we have to buy another book she didn't list on the book list ("An Introduction to Legal Reasoning")?

As of now I don't think Dixon has assigned any books or coursepacks. I didn't see anything on the booklist or the list of copied stuff at the copy center in the basement. I guess she must do all PDFs or something.

I pulled the three listed cases for Dixon's class. PM me your email and I will send them to you.

And if anyone knows or finds out what's going on with the Levi book, or the supposed coursepack, please let me know.

Hey U of C 1Ls.... I'm trying to gauge interest for something. If there were to be a U of C Law v. Northwestern Law rec sports tournament (like, kickball or something) in the spring, would there be any interest?

The general idea would be to have U of C teams play each other and Northwestern teams play each other, at which point the two best teams would play for total law school recreational sports dominance....

Heads up to my fellow Section A members: Looks like we have class again on Fridays. Chalkboard showed Strauss' class as MTTh yesterday but it's back to showing it as TThF today. Guess we'll find out for sure when classes start on Tuesday...

We asked Dean Richardson, and she confirmed that we have class on Friday. Booo!
However, we don't have class THIS Friday :D

Funny story: I called her Dean Robinson on more than several non-consecutive occasions. She finally corrected me. Don't make the same mistake that I did.

I guess it wasn't that funny, in retrospect. Good luck with classes, 1Ls. Don't worry about being called on. I've stammered through entirely incoherent answers, and nobody remembers anything you said after a minute or two. People are usually more focused on the professor, or, if you're a 2L/3L, solitaire or freecell.

The onslaught of book emails must be stopped. Also this would have been useful one week ago, but is not anymore, as presumably we've all needed our books by now to do the reading for tomorrow.

Here's how to stop the onslaught.

Sign on to your UChicago mailing lists account at:

https://lists.uchicago.edu/web

Login is the same as your CNet ID.

You can then choose digest form (presumably sent out daily?) or to unsubscribe from the lists entirely. You can also choose a temporary reprieve and a few other options.

Nah, you don't want to do that. There are plenty of useful e-mails on lawannounce.
