I think the biggest difference will be your time DURING law school. Yale's quality of life seems to be superior to any other LS. But, if you intend to go into private practice/firm work I don't think you're any worse off going to Columbia after school. Columbia places very well in that field.littleboyblue wrote:KP429 wrote:Wow, the facebook group is really poppin'..
how many people? i guess i should get around to joining.
also, b/c of some personal stuff it may make my life a little easier if was at columbia instead of yale (i didn't get any money from columbia though). is that just crazy to pass up yale? i don't really want to get into all the personal stuff but on a scale of 1-10 of how much "better" my life could be if i went to columbia vs. yale it would probably be between 5 and 6. i can't decide - i feel like for 3 years who cares, should not really make a huge impact and yale is head and shoulders better. but then i think maybe i am just buying into the yale hype and i probably don't want be an academic so does it really matter. ginsberg transferred from harvard to columbia to be with her husband and she did fine...
That said, New Haven isn't too far from NYC. So if being a couple hours' drive away doesn't hurt the personal situation, it might be worth it.
