Has anyone else gotten their housing assignment??? I just got mine. In the Bronx. 6 miles away. I was under the impression that it would be in buildings around the school like the ones we were shown during the admitted students events. WTF!!!

I am in the same boat. I did not see this coming. I hate commuting. I will take living in a tin can for 1200 a month if I can walk to school in 10-15 minutes.

i requested an august move-in time. the date they gave me was 8/10-8/14. wah.

I requested 1st week of August and that is what they gave me.

Ha, agreed. I don't know. I just tried to call the two women listed as housing liaisons on the CLS website but no answer. So i sent them begging emails. If not, I guess I'll just look for something on my own. This really sucks. What are you going to do?

I just talked to some friends who live in NY now and they said don't worry because I can find a place that is way better than what UAH was trying to stick us with. Look at craigslist no rent fee apartments. Things look pretty good there. My friends told me that living on HH Parkway would be terrible.

That might be helpful in this case. If UAH housing for $970 lands you a share up in the Bronx, I'd rather pay $1300 for a Lionsgate share.

Wow, all these scary housing offers are freaking me out. But did you guys request law students only housing? That was one of the requirements I listed, along with a Lionsgate preference and a cutoff for my budget. Crossing fingers...

I did not say anything about law only housing. I wanted a studio less than 1300 a month and to move in the 1st week of August. I did not say anything else.

You definitely can and that's my plan. Just make sure you have all your documentation when you begin your apartment search here. I'm not sure what it's like in other cities but here landlords require all kinds of income verification from the tenant (or the guarantor).

Oh boy...this doesn't sound good. And my housing app is still "under review" by the law school. (I submitted April 7...I thought that was early?)
Did you guys request furnished or unfurnished?
The girl I stayed with at ASW had a 3-person unfurnished share on W 113th for $850 a month. I was kind of hoping for that type of deal.

I can only assume that the studio aspect is what kicked it so far from the school, as those are the rarest.
