Should I write a letter of continued interest in food and shelter? Damn.

I was actually really excited hoping to live in gropius, because I have no money and some older friends met most of their good friends in the dorm.

:-(

Anyone need an apartment mate? sigh.
Speaking of finding apartment mates, my roommate and I are looking for a third person to rent a place with us for next year. The house is very nice - 3 floors, everything is new, maple hardwood floors, there's a little courtyard outside with an apple tree, 2 baths and the master bath has a jacuzzi-style tub and a steam shower - and quite affordable at $2800/month for three people. It's in East Cambridge, about a 12 minute bus ride away from HLS and on the green line for easy access downtown. If you want really nice, fairly affordable housing and don't need to be right near Harvard Square, PM me for more details.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all next year!

I got an okay dorm number too (sorry to those who didn't!), and was also wondering if anybody knew if there were any real differences between the Gropius buildings. Anybody know anything major I should consider (besides construction near Shaw which is mentioned on the site)?

244 here...if you are above 220, is there still a good chance that you can get a dorm (just the crappiest of crappy)? Or should I definitely start looking for other options

On the Harvard housing site they say that in the past they have been able to place everyone who wanted housing with housing.
During the past two years, an offer of on-campus housing has been made to every student by the end of the summer. Past results are not a guarantee that this will repeat for 2009-2010
Granted Story is closed due to construction but don't worry too much yet. Don't forget that people can register for both on campus and off campus housing. It's likely that at least some will choose to live off campus so that should open up a few spots.

241. Guess I should start looking at apartments just to be safe. Anyone else looking for a roommate?

Does anyone know about the dorms? What's good and what isn't? I figure it would be good to get more information than just the floorplans :)

Does anyone know how (un)common it is to be able to find a start date other than the 1st? I'm sure most of us would prefer moving in on or around August 15-20 rather than Aug. 1 or Sep. 1. Some brokers were telling me that this is exceedingly rare but I figured they might be FOS. Just wondering if anyone who lives near the area knew anything.

I've got a room in Gropius too. On the site, it said that we'd get confirmation e-mails on Tuesday, May 13, 2008. So, I'm guessing they meant that we'll get them tomorrow...maybe?

Not yet. But I e-mailed them about something else, and the guy who responded saw that I had already selected a room. Which kind of room did you get in groupis? I was thinking about it, then decided the small rooms combined with a public bathroom would probably adversely affect my studying. I've never had a roommate or had to share a bathroom.

What's the deal if you select a dorm room but then have a change of heart? I locked up a spot in hastings but don't know if I can deal with dorm life again.

Does someone know the answer to this question? I'm wondering the same thing.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
