It couldn't hurt. I wrote Kagan back when she sent out her congratulatory email and we ended up writing a bit back and forth. Of course, that only resulted in me being even more sad she's leaving.

Dean Kagan broke the intellectual log-jam that prevented HLS from living up to its potential (and endowment). Her loss is significant, but I can't imagine that the school will revert to what it was before she arrived.

I live in Boston and regularly attend events at HLS. The atmosphere has invariably been warm, collegial, and stimulating. Dean Kagan changed the culture of the institution. Maintaining it will be a much easier task.

Now I just have to get in!

Mine are from Fallon and Cavallaro. Agreed, these people are classy!

Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you could give me some direction on how to log into our harvard email addresses. I can log onto the admitted students website, but I'm not sure what the password is for the email (the xxxx@jd12.law.harvard.edu), or if I'm even going to the correct site to try and log in. I tried simply entering my LSAC account number as my password on this site (https://mymail.law.harvard.edu/), but that didn't seem to work. Do I need to take any additional steps to set up the email account?

I was just admitted last week, so it may be that it take a while for the email to be set up, but nevertheless, I thought I'd ask. Thanks a lot.

Congratulations to everyone and I'm looking forward to going to school with many of you in the fall.

This combo worked for me: JDoe.jd12/<LSAC#, including the L)

They may just need time to get everything processed.

congrats giveitashot!

I think I'll be replying to my prof (Cavallaro) e-mail today. It's definitely a clever recruiting idea. If nothing else, it helps a little to assuage rumors that Harvard faculty are less accessible than at smaller schools (Yale). So far, HLS has done a great job of making me feel special :D. However, I am still a bit anxious to see who they choose to replace Dean Kagan...

PT or others,

Was the general vibe fairly laidback for finals with the new grades?

More laid back than expected, but people did still study.

Compulsive checking pays off! The link to register for an ASW is finally active (though it's not formatted properly--clicking on "Register to attend an admitted applicant program" does nothing; you actually have to click on the empty space just to the right).

Ha! I've checked twice since they removed the "Check back soon" parenthetical, but I couldn't get the link to work. Thanks for being more clever than I!

Does it just take you to a page titled "untitled" like it does for me? Faster, Harvard! Faster!

I'm going in march. When I visited in October I stayed at the Le Meridien and it was nice enough. It's a lot closer to MIT though.

Oh, wow. I really am 007. I registered on a secret page! Ten minutes ago, I checked again, and the page was still there. Now, whether I click the "link" or type in the URL, I get the blank, "untitled" page too.

Maybe it wasn't supposed to be publicly available yet? Neither of the other links from that page--one for looking at available classes to visit and another for registering a guest--was functional, although the form itself seemed to work just fine.

I posted on here that the Doubletree (in Allston, across the river) had $99 specials for March. That's the ASW I'm going to.

My wife and I are staying at the Hotel Marlowe near Cambridgeside Galleria. She works for Kimpton Hotels, so we're staying for $50/night. It seems really nice regardless -- last time I looked, they had rooms for $160-$170. Too rich for my government salary.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
