I don't know. I'm starting to think I might have misunderstood something, which would be devastating.

Oh man, how do I decide where to live? Where are the cool kids living? I'm deciding between fourth floor Ames and first or second floor Shaw. I think I don't want first floor Shaw because that's a girls' bathroom. Is the construction going to be bad?

Were you able to see if many apartments were still available in Terry Terrace and other closeby buildings?
I have to wait another two weeks to pick, which seems like the middle. I'm not thinking I'll be totally shut out, but not certain anything near HLS will still be there.
They actually had a surprising number of Terry Terrace units left... at least 10 if I remember correctly. Most of them were 1bd, and a lot of them opened in June or July. Best of luck to you on that!

I've also got the option of Hastings, which I really liked...
I'm leaning towards Shaw, second floor.

But Hastings was so nice and I'm a little worried about the construction. Is the noise going to be very bad?

I have no idea, but I can't imagine it being so bad you would want to spend all that extra money on Hastings.

That's true. In Hastings you have a common room too. There is stuff available on 4th floor Ames, but it's an all-male floor, which I'm not a huge fan of.
By the way, this is a good preview of what it's going to be like when I'm deciding what to do 1L summer, what courses to take 2L and 3L, what to eat for dinner, etc.

I think you mean the ladies can come up to me. I just have this effect of making them weak-kneed and want to avoid any potential injuries on the stairs, especially considering that they're future lawyers and I could be construed as at fault.iagolives wrote:sok man, you can go down a flight of stairs; it isn't that bad.

I thought Hastings was sort of a ripoff when I visited, that's all... it was really grimy and old.. I remember the bathroom door was hanging on its hinges.. sideways. It was spacious and in a pretty good location, though.

Yeah, I got this feeling too. It's large, though, but probably not worth the extra $4k or so.

I got an apt in belmont for 1250/mth. It's a 10 min bus ride to school (2.9 mi away i think).
Now I know that this is "a lot" to a lot of people who post on here but I come from a town where you drive everywhere and I used to drive 20 minutes on the freeway to get to my undergrad so this is a piece o' cake for me! Also I plan on getting picked up if it's late at night.

It isn't that big of a deal but I was looking at the academic calendar for next year and we get very little vacation it seems like (at least as compared to UG).

You're looking at the biggest 2 bedroom apartment you'll see in the Central Square area. This place is a 2 bedroom apartment with a big office with laundry in it. One of the Huge Bedrooms even has a Jacuzzi in it (and we're not talking a bathtub with jets this is a real-deal hot tub). There are 1 and a half bathrooms. There are hardwood floors throughout. The Kitchen is fully loaded with a microwave, a dishwasher and plenty of cabinet and counter space. You get a big Living Room/Dining Room. This is a big apartment for a good price in a great location convenient to the Harvard and MIT campus areas as well as the MBTA Redline and Central and Inman squares. This first-rate apartment won’t last long. Call today to see it before it passes you by
$2250

So, another question for y'all:
Did any of you happen to catch or any locals out there know what are the big banks in the Cambridge/Harvard area? I'll be switching banks this summer and I wanted to know so I could switch it to something convenient to me next year.
