UCs are not big on schollies at all, so let's not get our hopes up.

Yeah a friend of mine with a 3.8/awesome resume/171 was offered a whopping 75% of in-state tuition from UCHastings, so if Berkeley operates similarly don't get your hopes up for the big bucks. Also, if anyone wants to hear stories about dealing with UCB's financial ai... no, no, I won't rain on your parade.muddywaters wrote:UCs are not big on schollies at all, so let's not get our hopes up.

UCLA was very generous. I really hope Berkeley will be as well. But I get the feeling they know I want them more than they want me (esp after I emailed deam Tom telling him he made my dreams come true). Bad movemuddywaters wrote:UCs are not big on schollies at all, so let's not get our hopes up.
lol I can see your scholarship offer going straight to the furnace after that;)legends159 wrote:UCLA was very generous. I really hope Berkeley will be as well. Thanks. Maybe I'll find a really rich mentor who will take charity on me. *Wink* Ken *Wink*SoftBoiledLife wrote:lol
well at least the cost of living in Berkeley is really lo.............
Wait, you would sacrifice Berkeley to move to NY?amyLAchemist wrote:Yeah, UCB is my first choice. We might move to NY though (I hope not), and then I would be going to school over there somewhere....
Is he doing something so important that he can't move to California?amyLAchemist wrote:I don't want to, but I might not have much of a choice. When faced with the choice of being apart from my SO (we are getting married during law school), I would just move to NY too. I got into Cornell at least....so it's not too much of a sacrifice. But I do hope I am part of Berkeley Class of 2012.legends159 wrote:Wait, you would sacrifice Berkeley to move to NY?amyLAchemist wrote:Yeah, UCB is my first choice. Amy do yourself a favor and go to Berkeley!amyLAchemist wrote:In my opinion, no. In his opinion, yes.legends159 wrote: Is he doing something so important that he can't move to California?
I ask him what his problem is (lol, my exact words), and his response was that I am smart and will do well no matter what T20 law school I go to. I guess it's a compliment, but still annoying as all hell since it's not what I want to hear.

Lot's of people get in and according to this board you have the same chances that you had from the regular pool roughly 8-12 percent. I have heard that it is easier to gain acceptance once you're in committee review, but that doesn't seem to be the common sentiment.nallku wrote:I know that this is the forum for admitted students, but did someone get this:
"I write to inform you that your law school application at UC Berkeley Law School has passed an initial administrative review and has been selected for further consideration by the Faculty Admissions Committee."
and then get in?
I don't have a strong LSAT (165), but decided against a retake because my wife was having our first son in September and I wouldn't have time. I thought about retaking because I was at the hospital the night before because my father-in-law had a heart attack. I did ALOT better on TIMED practice exams (98th percentile-AVERAGE).
I think that I have great softs, a high GPA (especially for my major), and I want to do patent law. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I am worried about a rejection after this e-mail.
you did not do this...did you?But I get the feeling they know I want them more than they want me (esp after I emailed deam Tom telling him he made my dreams come true). Bad move
all I got from my schools were a price taglsatbobby wrote:i hope berk sends some fun stuff...it seems like people in previous years got shirts and coasters and what not from schools
Same problem, but I actually used Google Street View to look at the campus. Pretty pathetic lollsatbobby wrote:hahaha
well, i can't find any pics of the school (the part thats not getting tore down) on the website, so just a postcard with the campus on it would be nice
