Does anyone else think that taking a private education loan over the grad plus might not be a bad idea?? I know that everything you read says to exhaust the Stafford and GradPlus first, but that 8.5% is crazy high. Is the only negative about the private loans that your interest rate is variable, so you could potentially get really screwed, or am I missing something else? I believe you can't consolidate a private with your Stafford after graduation, but I don't think that's worth paying a ton of extra money in interest.

If you dress up like that for a football game . . . you fail. End of story.

My fiance is worried about the same thing (more worried that all of her friends will be law students (hey, whats wrong with law students!?)). If you and your SO are comfortable with the idea, PM me your SO's email address. I will collect the addresses and put them all in touch (including my fiance).

So.... for those of you who are currently working, when are you quitting?

I'm counting down until June 14th.

I partly want an ID card because I usually clip some sort of ID onto a belt loop, but having a UVA ID also apparently gets you 5% off at Kroger and Harris Teeter according to the UVA page.
it doesn't have to be a uva id card, i don't think. i've gotten the student discount at the charlottesville harris teeter without one before, anyway.

I'm quitting around the same time. I need the money too. I'm hoping to save up 40k that i can use combined with the max Stafford loans to avoid getting any GradPlus loans, at least for my first year.

Yeah, I'd like to know this too if possible. I might be coming early and would want to use some of the facilities (gym, practice rooms in the music building, etc), which I assume you need an ID for.

Danny,

I'm sending you my fiance's email address too!

By the way, not to call you out, but you got into Stanford and turned it down for UVA? That's amazing...and awesome!

I believe you can use the gyms once you get an ID and you can get an ID early.

Last year you could NOT use the gym until a certain date (like August 12 or something) even if you had an ID.

Has anyone else not had their loan information posted on SIS yet? I'm just wondering if I should start bugging the Financial Aid office yet. Thanks!

Is this the main campus gym or the law student gym?

You'll have to park about an 8-10 min walk away UNLESS the better parking spots don't sell out. Plus, the lot where you park has mandatory clear-out times when there's a big event at the arena. This year, I don't think the better spots totally sold out, so you might be in luck, but not until a month or so into school.

But, if you get to school early enough, there's free street parking on Arlington Blvd that, depending on how close a spot you get, is a 2-5 min walk.

Is that the Blue lot? It seemed pretty close at ASD. I thought that was the furthest lot.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
