My financial aid isn't up. Anyone else?

I can't find this. Please help.

Edit: I think I have it, when I click UVA email it lets me go in, and a GMail thing comes up. Is this right? How do I get rid of the weird letter number combo email and make it something easier? Is that possible?

I'm really not as computer challenged as I seem, but if I want to change my password will I have to do it on SIS and on gmail or separately? Are the accounts still linked in that way?

EDIT: I take that back. I'm apparently really stupid. How do I change my SIS password?

Mine isn't up either :(. If I got a maximum Stafford from another school that would cost me less, am I equally likely to get a maximum Stafford from UVA?

How does one even get into SIS? How do I know my UVA computing ID and Student System ID? I'm sure that I never received these in an email from admissions...

O man, this is going to be a headache, I can tell...

I can't access my financial aid letter yet.

Did anyone who qualified for $250+ in ASW reimbursement get their check yet?

UVA SIS page: https://sisuva.admin.virginia.edu/psp/e ... PAPP_GUEST

You should have received an email with a subject along the lines of: "RE: Information on Applying for Financial Aid at the University of Virginia School of Law" from the financial aid office with your UVA that included your UVA computing ID and SIS ID number (which you can use to generate a password). The email also had instructions on how to submit your online finaid app.

Ok, got it. Thanks so much!

I have no financial aid info available either. I actually didn't fill out the financial aid app because at the last ASD, someone asked if there was still a point in doing so, and the lady was like, "It's not necessary at all, but it's always nice to have as much information as possible."

So...I'm really hoping the FAFSA will be enough? Sigh.

Yes, choose Gmail or Live (I went with Gmail).

You can sort-of change your email address by adding aliases to your account (after setup, you can go to a UVA, not Gmail, account managment page to add aliases). Unfortunately, you can only add aliases to your YOURCHOICE@email.virginia.edu; you can't change or add aliases to INITIALSANDRANDOM@virginia.edu. There doesn't appear to be any way to change your username (which is based off of that weird combination).

I went ahead and added aliases for my name for the email.virginia.edu domain. I also set up my Thunderbird for UVA Gmail email.

Can you explain further? Where do you get to the place to add aliases?

Thanks again!

EDIT: IN the column deliverable addresses, how come for my new alias it has a long thing and then for my original one it says UVA Gmail... should they both say UVA Gmail?

TaoTao wrote:Limegreen, thanks for the names of those places. I was wondering if any of you have had a chance to check out Jefferson Ridge and/or Carriage Hill. These places look great online. How far away from campus are they?

Thanks! :D

TaoTao, I actually just applied at Carriage Hill last week. Limegreen had told me she had a really bad experience at Carriage Hill which sucks because everyone I've talked with was really nice and I was actually approved on my own (without my dad co-signing - which is a first). I also think the difference between Carriage Hill and Jefferson Ridge is more noticeable if you are looking at 1 bedrooms (Limegreen is looking at 2 bedrooms if I'm not mistaken).

Carriage Hill has a linen closet in the bathroom, a bigger bedroom closet than Jeff Ridge, full pantry closet thing, and full-size washer and dryer that are in their own utility closets (with shelving above each). Jefferson Ridge has the washer/dryer stacked in the bathroom so there isn't much storage in there and a smaller closet in the bedroom. Price wise, I found them very comparable. I chose Carriage hill because for $1025 I can live in a one bedroom upper - it's $1095 at Jefferson Ridge for a lower (but includes cable and internet). Most everything I watch on tv can be found online (whether legally or illegally :D ) so I figure I can spend very little on internet and cable and pay roughly the same price. I think to live in an upper at Jeff Ridge it's $1150....that might be wrong though.

Drive wise, they are similar in time. There are definitely more lights from Carriage Hill but I'm not one of those people who hates driving or traffic so it isn't really an issue. You do drive alongside a shopping center to enter Carriage Hill - some find this unappealing, I love it because there's a grocery store and Quiznos right there! Hope that might help. It does suck that Limegreen had such a crappy experience at Carriage Hill - hopefully it's not reflective of the complex as whole!
