congrats thesealocust, added you to the list.

On another note, and just for my own curiosity, if UVA law could have a rival law school who would it be?

You can leverage money when you're ED?

I applied ED because I was pretty sure UVA or Michigan would be the best school I could get into, UVA >>> Michigan in mind, and I'm fine paying full tuition considering my numbers.

I am accepted (ED) as of this morning when I got the call from Dean Trujillo. Fast turnaround as I'd only applied Wednesday night and had overnighted my ED contract on Tuesday. Look forward to seeing y'all in C-ville.

Thanks!

Oh and since I can finally reveal my exact numbers (I'd been shady til now), they are 3.29/171 if anyone cares.

I wonder if UVA is becoming just as splitter friendly as Northwestern seems to be? Or is applying ED an advantage over applying RD for splitters? Seems like a lot of people with 3.2/.3 and 17X type numbers are getting in ED....

ETA: Congrats jsporter!

I don't think they're as splitter-friendly as NU or Georgetown - there's likely some advantage to ED, though not a huge one.

3.34/171
3.29/171
3.31/170
3.00/172

All in ED.

It's impossible to tell based on LSN who's NOT getting in ED, though, as they wouldn't have been waitlisted/rejected/held yet. It may well be that for the four of us who got in, there are 10 people with the same numbers who won't. Hard to say.

thesealocust wrote:It's interesting reading about all of these ~170 and ~3.3 splitters, when I was sort of the opposite (166/3.96). I kinda hope it doesn't come up once we get there - my undergrad was full of people whining about missing schools just a little bit more selective during orientation, and it was kind of a drag.
Congrats to you, too!

I hope for the same thing. People talking about how they could be at "better" schools or whining they're "only going here" is a huge downer. Not cool.

I think UVA was the highest ranked school I could get into with my numbers, but location was what sold me over an ED app to NU or Michigan. I'm in love with Charlottesville (been twice for cousins' weddings in the chapel) and that made ED the obvious choice.

Being an Arizonan, I do also like the Napolitano connection. :P

You all shouldn't despair, I would say of all the schools in the T14, UVA pays the least attention to numbers. I got in with a 3.85 gpa, and an LSAT several points lower than you all, and I'm an upper-middle class white guy.

They really do read your personal statements, rec letters, etc. They look at the whole picture.

The schools reputation has been steadily climbing, so people with better numbers have been applying. UVA could easily raise their numbers and get up to the NYU range, but they choose not to, and for good reason. They want to raise their rank in different ways, they're not going to play the numbers game.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
