Hm, median grant amount from last year was 14k. (from ABA data)

So are numbers up from last year or is LSN just numbers biased? I think we'd have to compile LSN stats from last year as well to get a better picture.

YC's numbers seem to be admitted applicants, not matriculated applicants. That should explain a lot of the discrepancies.

I put together some statistics on admitted UVA applicants this year based on LSN data (excluding those who withdrew their apps, although it doesn't really make any difference in the results):

LSAT
Average LSAT: 171
Median LSAT: 170
25%-75% LSAT: 170-172

GPA
Average GPA: 3.75
Median GPA: 3.83
25%-75% GPA: 3.6-3.93

All Admitted Students:
Acceptance rate: 29.7%
Average Scholarship: $24,645
Median Scholarship: $0
% of all applicants on LSN (approximate): 15%

For comparison, the class of 2011 (from UVA website):
Median LSAT: 170
25%-75% LSAT: 166-171
Median GPA: 3.80
25%-75% GPA: 3.56-3.89

whaaaa? I officially nominate myself as the dumbest member of UVA class of 2012. Thats insane. the rest of you guys kick ass.

I think there's a self-selection problem on LSN, though, with people with higher numbers and more acceptances tending to post profiles. For example, at the ASW, I'm pretty sure they said the acceptance rate this year was 14% (insane!) as opposed to 30%.

For those of you graduating this April/May, are you getting a sense of ennui? I've got one final left and my thesis defense is done; since all my friends are still studying (since they've got more finals they I do), I'm sort of lost and don't know what to do with myself. It's been so long since I haven't had some long-term project I was supposed to be working on (thesis, law school apps, internship apps, transfer apps, etc.)

I'm not graduating this year, but I can attest that I have lost all desire to be efficient at work and I find myself playing a lot of MarioKart. Perhaps I should pick up reading again...

I graduated last May, but I've been feeling like this for a while. I think I'm going to get a job in Cville this summer so I have something to do. There's only so much cleaning/organizing/etc. one person can do.

That feeling just set in this weekend. I defended my thesis friday, and saturday felt lost without some long term project, test, admission thing to do. I think it will be positive though, i'll just have more energy for running, etc this summer.

You all probably already know this, but UVA is tied for #4 nationally (with Chicago and Columbia) based on USNWR 2010 (most recent) external assessment scores (prestige).

For the lawyers/judges score, yes, but for the combined Peer+L/J, we are tied with Michigan for 8th.

Frankly, I care more about the lawyers/judges because they'll be the ones looking to hire me, but by either measure, we pretty much kick ass
