After spending the last hour falling in love with the photos of some of the "luxury" apartment complexes a little further out from school (the ones limegreen mentioned: The Woodlands, Jefferson Ridge, and Carriage Hill), I'm pretty sure I want to live in one of these places or somewhere similar.
Haha, I just did the same thing and came to the same conclusion :)

June 1. I'm hoping to find some sort of lax part time job while I'm there, any ideas? I will probably end up going the retail route.

I just got my UVA e-mail address! Woohoo, now I'm in the UVA Facebook network!

For those curious, I sent in my deposit a week ago. Last week it wouldn't let me create one, but today it did, after taking some stupid UVA computing quiz.

I just clicked the "UVA e-mail" button from the SIS page (the same place as the financial aid application), and followed the directions from there.

What do most people do for lunch? Go home? Go out? Bring something?

If your IQ is greater than your shoe size you should be fine. I would post the answers, but it probably violates the honor code.

I remember from ASW that there was a cafeteria near where they held the Thursday evening BBQ. I'm guessing if you don't have time to head back to your place you'd probably eat there. Barracks is also about a 5-10 minute walk away (or a 1 minute drive if you have a car on grounds) down the street.

I should be rooting against UNC, but if they win tonight then I win my bracket. I can't let me friend who knows pretty much nothing about college basketball win for the second year in a row :)

No, I was referencing UVA's honor code.

Despite it being expensive and not exactly high quality, a lot of people end up eating in Scott Commons. Some people bring lunch and others will go to one of the places in Barracks. Could also just go home if you have a long lunch break.

Limegreen, thanks for the names of those places. I was wondering if any of you have had a chance to check out Jefferson Ridge and/or Carriage Hill. These places look great online. How far away from campus are they?

Thanks! :D

Sealocust, I too plan on eating Chipotle every chance I get. I am ECSTATIC I am moving somewhere with one. Right now I have to drive 45 minutes to get to one which I do about every two weeks.

No problem, I think I posted a little bit of info on these before but Jefferson Ridge and Carriage Hill are both nice places. I didn't like Carriage Hill for a variety of reasons (even though I didn't even see a model), but mostly I didn't like that it was practically in a shopping center and thought their leasing agent was abrasive. Also, I wasn't a fan of the drive there from school. Jefferson Ridge was nice, they have big bathrooms and closet which is a plus, and it's a pretty short (8 minutes give or take) and straightforward (hop on the highway) drive to grounds.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
