I wrote out the latter portion of my finaid form, but I would think it'd allow for at least 5 digits of untaxed income/benefits. If it's not letting you do that, I'd enter the maximum number allowed (9999 if four-digit max). If it's not allowing more than 5 digits, than I'd put 99,999 (and, if that's the case, I think I can also safely say that you're probably not going to get too much in institutional grants).
well crap, turns out its 6 digits.. I'll just submit the first 5 and follow up with an email tomorrow? Is that a decent plan?

edit: or do you suggest the 99999 plan with an email?
I'd do 99,999 with the email. And I'm really sorry to say this, but your chances of getting more than a few dollars in grants is very slim unless your parents had an exceptionally good reason for that much in untaxed income/benefits.

Also, make sure your parents told you the right number. Unless you've got a weird situation, untaxed income/benefits should be a lot less than taxable income, something like 5%-20% of taxed income (unless they don't make a lot of money, but that's not the case with that much in untaxed income) is usually the norm.
well my dad says it's the right number, i think retirement money has something to do w/it...anyways, didn't i have to fill this out for loans or was this just for need based grants?

edit: i meant other than fafsa...isn't that interest rate some rediculous number like 8.5 percent?

Does UVA sell law school gear in their bookstore or in some other store on campus? I wanna check some of this stuff out IRL at the ASW before buying it.

You can only buy UVA law stuff at the UVA law bookstore - the main grounds bookstore, unfortunately, doesn't carry any law items (I was up in Charlottesville this past week for dinner and I ran by the main grounds bookstore to look for a UVA law car sticker and they didn't have any). You can buy stuff online though from: http://www.bookstore.virginia.edu

Sign up for the bookstore's email list, they send out sales and coupons and stuff every so often.

This weather is insane. Apparently it is snowing in Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia. Some of these folks have never seen snow in their entire lives!

Sadly, my parents said it all melted in AL by early afternoon! Still crazy that it snowed though. I was 9 the last time we got more than half an inch!

I was waitlisted at UVA and I was wondering if any accepted student who plans on enrolling would take a look at my LOCI and give me some suggestions on it. PM me if you're willing. Thanks.

Yes, it snowed this morning in Tuscaloosa. I took pictures, that's how rarely this occurs. It was the most snow I've seen in Alabama since the winter storm in 1993. Sad, but true.

try the UVA lacrosse shorts - both styles are very comfortable - I live in them at home and the gym:

I would like to know if there is a consensus on this too. Would places like the GrandMarc or University Place be quiet enough for law students and families? They seem like great bargains and really close by.

I drove to GrandMarc and it is close by distance wise but you have to do a lot of "city driving" and so it ended up taking a while to get there from the law school. I also saw a lot of undergrads walking around near it. I didn't go in because I was looking for something less college-y and quieter.

Jefferson Ridge and The Woodlands (two similar complexes in terms of quality) are about an 8 minute drive even though they are much further away because they are only a minute or so off of the interstate. I visited both complexes and they seemed to cater towards grad students and young professionals. Both were quiet and seemed fairly low key.

If you want any more detailed info I think I posted some stuff a few pages back on this thread, or feel free to PM me, I just visited Cville a couple of weeks ago and toured the main places.

Pretty sure GrandMarc is undergrad central.

I would agree with Woodlands.

Are these apartments like Woodlands that are further from the school on a bus line?

Is the bus service fairly reliable? And do students ride for 'free'.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
