More importantly, do the softball players wear cleats on the field? Or is this generally a sneakers event?
Those who are into it wear cleats. The dirt will get on what you wear so I don't recommend wearing sneakers or socks that you're going to wear in general.

They're out of August-start apartments. They make you pay a deposit just to get on a waiting list, and then they offer you apartments with June or May lease start dates, and they are completely inflexible on that. They graciously offer to let you pay on the apartment at the lease start date even if you can't move in then, and they'll just hold the apartment for you at that rate.

F*** them. I found something better anyway.
You're going to have to pay for the summer anyway in a one-year lease. You can pay at the beginning or at the end.
There are at least two reasons I can think of as to why someone would possibly rather end up paying on the back end rather than the front end. First, many people don't know if they're going to be in Charlottesville next summer or not. Second, someone may not have the means to pay double rent right now, whereas at least loans could fund rent payments next summer.

Yes, but I'm in my current lease in TX through this summer. I want to pay at the end so I have a place to live in VA next summer!

So I'm guessing we should have some new members soon since deposits were due yesterday.

Yeah, I'm hoping the admissions office releases preliminary figures about what our class statistics will look like too. I'm really interested in seeing what the acceptance rate is going to look like.

Also, when are people planning on sending in their second deposit? I want to give them time to sort through the first deposits their probably being flooded with right now. I'll probably send mine near the end of next week.
I'll probably send mine in at the end of May....need to get paid first :)

I'm going to send mine next week. I almost just paid both at once, but then I was like, eh, since I'm still working (i.e. still have income), I might as well split them up over two credit card bills, for basically no reason other than that I don't like to see large numbers on my bill.

From UVA's website:

Waiting List News
Updated APRIL 30, 2009

Because we received a sufficient number of initial deposits, we do not plan to make waitlist offers for at least a few weeks — probably close to or after the second deposit deadline on June 15. We will continue to monitor our waiting list needs on a daily basis over the next several weeks and will make offers when necessary. We will also release applicants from our waiting list when it becomes clear that we will be unable to offer them a spot.

Judging from LSN, we're probably not over-enrolled. I'd guess from the (small and skewed) sample of LSN that roughly 250-300 people are intent on coming to UVA.

Only 2 applicants have been waitlisted and then accepted, though. Those still on the waitlist will have to be patient.

So I bought a wii off ebay yesterday after rationalizing that I will need study breaks every once and a while next year (meaning daily...). I got the wii fit board w/games as well and am planning on getting Mario Kart. Anyone have any game recommendations?

I only have Zelda and Resident Evil 4. Both are great study break games and a ton of fun.

Grain of salt. I for one haven't updated my LSN. I'll do it now that you reminded me though.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
