Well, I'm not part of the network yet. Actually I signed up for it about 3 days after we received our e-mail addresses, and realized i was the only member for the network, so I disassociated. I'm such a conformist  .

Anyway, getting excited. Glad to see some others got a studio in Onterie. FWIW I'm on the 17th floor - lake view...err...W Hotel View.

On the subject of concerts, I'm soliciting any country music fans who would be interested in attending the Chicago shows. 8)

Following an Alamo Bowl birth last year and home games against Towson (9/5), Eastern Michigan (9/12), Minnesota (9/26), Miami-Ohio (10/10), Indiania (10/24), and Penn State (10/31), is anyone else planning to purchase football season tickets (only $114)?

hmmmm... i've never had a football team to worry about before. never even thought about this. this is definitely something i'd think about. especially with home games against minnesota and indiana.

the towson game alone is worth $114 to me. how do we purchase tickets? though it's too bad ohio state, michigan, or wisconsin won't be coming through town this season.

Although, I don't expect Northwestern to be "great" this year, given their schedule (no Michigan or Ohio State), I think that they could once again make a run for a legitimate bowl game. I've grown accustomed to cheering on a team for which anything less than a national championship was a dissappointment ... this could be fun.

Glad to hear I am not the only one! Anything but Toby Keith style 'boot in your a**' ridiculousness I am up for...I am missing the Kenny Chesney/Keith Urban fest this summer because of moving...sad.

ha. i've never been associated with a school by geography or enrollment for whom winning a game wasn't considered remarkable. so it'll be exciting to be rooting for a team that is mediocre.

i'm also new to this D1 football buying tickets thing. is it general seating in the student area? i don't wanna get season tickets and sit by myself. i also don't want to buy two sets of season tickets just so i have one to give someone so they'll hang out with me.

I'm going to hold off until orientation ... I remember hearing someone that there would be an opportunity to purchase tickets in a block with fellow law school classmates ... otherwise, I believe that the student area is general admission.

i was expecting a separate, catered graduate student section. this is disappointing news.

Count me in. Now if only we could get some decent indie Americana/Rockabilly this far north.

No Wisconsin this year? Poop. Oh wait... the UW site says that they ARE coming to NU on the 21st of November. Guess I'll get to put my Bucky the badger gear to good use!

I think outside of Wisconsin, Penn State and Minnesota are going to be the games that will be fun to go to this year...

We'll have to find a bar that carries the USC vs. U of O game. Oh, and Masoli for Heisman.

Good to hear...

I had Sand bar to Kenny in Pittsburgh this year. I'm going to Keith Urban right before I move. I saw Keith Anderson at Joe's Bar in Lincoln Park on the weekend I was viewing apartments. I'll see a few others this summer as well.

I joked that had I chosen to attend Michigan I would finally get to experience Big 10 sports. Well, I get to experience it after all, albeit to a lesser extent. I'll probably look into football tickets.

I'll have to consider caring about sports again. Back before high school I traded an interest in team sports for an interest in extreme sports and spent my days skating. Years ago I got too lazy for skating and stopped caring about that as well. I filled my hobby void with "pwning noobs" in Halo and Call of Duty. Now I'm too busy for that.

Long story short, I need a new interest to fill spare time. Perhaps, sports? I used to be quite the little sports fan when I was younger; I understand the appeal. I like basketball better, however. Should have went to Duke. :P

The Vic is a pretty cool place... I don't know what other types of bands your into, but a few other small venues that jump to mind are Schubas, the Double Door, and the Metro. Slightly larger than that would be places like the Aragon Ballroom and the House of Blues. Larger still and you're talking the Congress Theatre, Charter One Pavillion on Northerly Island, and the mega-venues of the United Center, Allstate Arena, and First Midwest Bank Ampitheatre all the way out in Tinley Park.

I love the recent email from associate Dean Zimmerman- "In the meantime, continue to enjoy your summer" Could that be any more ominous? Like we didn't know our fun level will most likely signficantly decrease when the summer is over???
