i'm not trying to go off with an "oh if i would have had 3.6 i'd get in everywhere i applied" because my writing comp. was far from perfect (though i'd bet money that it was not in the bottom 10% cull or whatever it is)

but it's such a terrible process and the odds are stacked so much in favor of the top 10% of the class. i'm around top 25% and i didn't make it - neither did my friends that i talk to about these things that are 3.4-3.55 (top 33%-maybe 20?)

I'm not sure anymore how important law review really is in the eyes of employers. Grades, yes, LR, maybe more trouble than it's worth? I didn't try for it (was in ballpark but not shoo-in); did a secondary instead, but not my thing at all and didn't go for Ed bd. I still ended up at a really selective firm that was even a slight reach for me (gpa within range but below median) and there are a number of others here like me. Don't get me wrong; there are plenty of LR members, but there are also people who didn't make it or try for it and who got hired anyway. And we have a lot more free time. :)

Yeah, I don't think I'm going to go for Law Review. It seems so time consuming for just a small boost in employment odds.

LR is much more impt if you are all about clerking or academia.

and would you be willing to disclose your selective firm and such gpa within range/below median issues?

my #1 firm is .1 above me exactly :(

I just looked, and my gpa at the time was .1 below the median currently listed. I think the median currently listed has gone up, though, by about .03 if I remember correctly.

Woodbury people - did you sign up for a separate internet deal, or is the Wifi they offer enough to get by?

I'm asking because they request you have utilities set up before you move in, and while we have most things taken care of, internet/cable are still on hold.

Oh, son of a bitch. If Michigan's anything like Minnesota, this summer is going to suck.

Why are they banning A/C, anyway? Is it the electricity? Cheap bastards.

Speaking of, gotta do loans and stuff.

Does everyone live three blocks from the law school, or do some folks live in Ypsilanti and other surrounding communities?

I live 2 miles away. It's heaven.

For Ann Arbor.

Heaven because you're 2 miles away, or because you're in a great location to walk to bars and restaurants?

Walking (stumbling?) distance to stadium, well away from central campus.

Comcast. Wait until the first week in September. I got a really sweet deal last year.

The immunization form is not technically required if I recall correctly so don't worry too much about that. Get it done when you can.

I'm commuting from about 45-50 miles out. Actually looking forward to it as the drive will be 30 min shorter each way from my work commute the last 4 years.

Where from? That trek is going to blow. I hate making that drive on occasional weekends to visit family. I don't think I could do it everyday.

I live 3 mi from school. It's not bad... we wanted to get something nicer (for the same price) than we could get right near school. I can bike if I want, though I hardly ever do. Mostly just drive and find street parking. On long days, my husband takes me and picks me up.

Is this for the LC? All Michigan dorms ban A/C units, except for people with specific medical conditions that need them. But, the past couple years, A/C has hardly been needed in AA from September on. It may just be that they were a few odd years, but the past few Septembers have been relatively cool...

Whoa. I guess Ypsilanti isn't that far. I admire the positive frame you have put on this. Audio books?
