Shit, my loans haven't even gone through yet. Its been weeks and the only thing Fin Aid told me was to make sure the blue sheet was complete.

Yeah, I applied on June 1st and the loan company is just waiting for GULC to request the the funds. If your situation is similar, I don't think there's anything to worry about. I'm sure GULC will call us ASAP if there's a problem; they definitely want their money.

I called FinAid yesterday to confirm that they received my loan application and blue sheet. The lady said that they have not even processed blue sheets or started to look at loan applications for incoming students. She said as long I had the email confirmation that my blue sheet was submitted I should be fine.

Hey guys,
Where do I find this "blue sheet?" Might have filled it out and forgot, but where is it and what is it for? Didn't find it on the admitted students site.

After signing the MPN with my lender of choice, what do I have to send to the financial aid office (if anything) so that they can complete the application?

Finally, has anyone received confirmation yet after mailing/faxing in the form for accepting their Gewirtz housing assignment?

Thanks for your help, looking forward to meeting some TLSers in August.

https://www.theloanprogram.org/eApp/default.aspx

If you register and log in there, you can fill out the blue sheet online. It's pretty simple, just a list of the loans you applied for, your lenders, when you applied, etc.

Thank you very much, jschuyler. Fortunately for my sake, doesn't sound like the FinAid office has done anything yet.

Who did everyone go with for loans? Unless I missed something big, I'm going with Discover Student Loans, becuase they charge no originiation fees on the Stafford loans (and have the standard rate reduction for auto payment). Did anyone find a better lender?

I went with my bank, BoA. Honestly it doesn't really matter because you should ride the IBR train when you graduate.

Yup that is my plan, consolidate through the federal government (Direct Consolidation) and then use the 10 year loan forgiveness with IBR after I get a government job.

Under this scenario, it seems all of the incentives the various loan providers offer are moot, becuase you end up making IBR payments to the government on the consolidated loan?

Guess I'll just go with Discover then.

Where can we find the computer requirements? I want to go buy a new one for school soon, but I can't find the requirements on the admitted student website despite an e-mail from Dean Cornblatt saying that they're on there somewhere...

EDIT: If I just buy a new, half-decent one, the odds are high it'll meet all of the requirements, right?

Has anyone heard back anything from GULC lately? I sent a confirmation message regarding my on-campus housing form last week (and had sent the original form the week before) and I still haven't received any official notice that it's been received. (And it was due yesterday!) I'm worried about the lack of paper trail.

Also, last school I was wait-listed by has de facto rejected me, so I will -- officially -- see y'all in the District this Fall. :)

Keep in mind that once you get a gtown login, you can get the student discount (depending on what you were planning on buying)..

Thanks! I haven't seen you around in a while. Are you excited about going to G'town? Where are you living next year? Did you sign up for A or B?

After the mayhem of the app cycle started winding down, I started to slowly get back to my life (or what's left of it). But I am SO geeked about GULC! I actually got into NU two weeks ago and turned it down 'cause I'm so in love with Georgetown. Curriculum B, in fact, was probably the biggest selling point for me.

In fact, here's how dorky/infatuated-with-school I am: When I went to look at a couple of schools in late March, I hit Georgetown first (primarily because of scheduling). I arrived about an hour before the first ASD/Open House welcome event and met some other girls waiting in the lobby, so I asked them if they wanted to walk over to the bookstore to kill some time. A half hour and $250 later, I had a massive bag full of Georgetown Law clothes, a license plate holder, and assorted other school paraphernalia (like really cute running shorts with Georgetown Law written across the butt)--in addition to the free bag of Georgetown loot they gave us at the event... AND this was all BEFORE they'd even officially welcomed us AND before I visited any other schools. At dinner a few hours later, I walked up to Andy Cornblatt (who was actually serving us dinner and wearing a chef's hat and apron... was anyone else at ASDs as amused by that as I was?) carrying my bag-o'-geekwear and said to him, "I have a quick question for you. Since I can't really wear this stuff anywhere else without looking ridiculous, can I just put my deposit down now?"

He laughed, replied that I absolutely could, and told me where to go to do so. I also told him that I really wanted Curriculum B, so he said I should send him an email (at the hotline address) mentioning my discussion with him, and told me they'd place me on a priority list for Curriculum B/Section 3. I sent the email and the woman who responded put me on the list and told me to send my curriculum selection in as soon as it became available, which I also did... so I think I'm covered and I will be REALLY bummed if I don't get it.

All my loan stuff is in (at least my part), so as far as school goes, now I'm just looking at neighborhoods and talking to potential roommates (definitely living off-campus with my 125 lb--and still growing--dog), working on getting a sweeeet LSAT teaching side job in DC, and obsessing over trying to get a perfect score on the GMAT so I can hopefully force Georgetown to give me merit money for my B-school year (I've decided to do the JD/MBA program for sure). By the way, is anyone else thinking about doing the JD/MBA program? JD/MBA candidates spend one summer abroad doing a "residency"/group internship, which I'm also pretty stoked about (even though that's two years from now  ).

Anyhow, when I'm not killing myself trying to train for a triathlon or doing other similarly insane things, I pop in every now and then to see what's going on. How 'bout you? Where you planning to live?

I emailed the registrar and they said around June 22.

Lol, yeah I really want to get one of those super obnoxious "hoya lawya" shirts. I may have to buy one online because I just can't wait until I get there. I'm sure you'll get circ B, it sounds like you really want it and if they put you on the priority list I don't see why you wouldn't.

I was thinking about getting a LSAT teaching side-job around here until I moved, but I don't really know anyone that'll hire if I'm only going to work for six weeks, so I don't think that's going to work out. So, because of that, I'm mostly just fucking around for the summer with a little bit of work here in there that I normally do involving website maintainence and the like.

That's really exciting that you're going to be doing a JD/MBA. I was thinking about doing one when I was applying, but decided against it because I didn't think I'd have much luck with the B-school admissions, considering I have zero work exp. I remember that you have a whole bunch though, so that makes a lot of sense for you.

I'm living at Gewirz for 1L, just because I have absolutely no idea what are good neighborhoods in DC and I don't really want to have to fly out there and spend lots of time/money looking at apartments and trying to figure out what I want in terms of that. It's a little expensive, but it's convenient, which is important to me during 1L.

I'm actually really excited to go ahead, get out to DC, and start school. I'm a little apprehensive about moving, but at the same time I'm really ready for a new scene and for law school to begin.

Did you get this in the mail or via email? I feel like I have been waiting forever! I'm overseas and now all I will be thinking about is when it letter is going to get to me, if it is indeed via snail mail. Did the letter include anything else?

For those that couldn't attend ASW events, here's a fun pre-school activity (that sounds kind of weird but I'm going with it :? ) . Go to google maps and streetview an area around the Law Center.

This will not do justice to the RIDICULOUS view from the roof of Gee-whiz  . It's really incredible. When I was there for the early ASW I took some sick pictures of the Washington Monument and Capitol Building.

Honestly dude I think with a good first semester and a solid GMAT/GRE score (I can never remember which is which...) you wouldn't have any trouble getting into the dual degree program.

+1

Thanks for the encouragement re: B-school. I dunno, I was kind of up in the air about it and still am, but recently I've been leaning towards getting out into the workforce asap to get rid of some of this soul-crushing debt. We'll see.

Came by snail mail. Checked the financial site and tuition wasn't posted yet. All I have is a credit for my seat deposit.
