Audi Q5, possibly in a TDI or hybrid if such options exist in the US by 2015.

To me it says "yeah, it's European, but I'm not a hipster (VW) or an asshole (BMW/Porsche)."

You hit the nail on the head as to why I have always wanted an Audi. Its sophisticated, but not pretentious.

If you're going Audi, the S8 is the credited automobile*:

Yes. Usually they run a car service after hours to help pay for their exorbitant NYC taxes.

Luckily for me, neither of these require a six-figure salary.

That's a nice car, but if you're going MB, you might as well save up a little more (or take a bigger hit) and get an E class.

Or just go with the Popemobile. You can't go wrong with the Popemobile.

Very nice, but I like a small SUV. I need somewhere to throw my hockey gear and snowboard.

Buy an avant then. I think it stops at the A6, but it'll be a much nicer drive than any SUV.

Too station-wagony. I like driving an SUV as long as it's not too huge.

relevant. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontiac_Aztek
The Aztek was heavily criticized on its exterior styling, with Time magazine in 2007 calling the Aztek one of the worst cars of all time, and again in 2010 as the 34th worst invention of all time. A poll in The Daily Telegraph in August 2008 placed the Aztek at number one of the "100 ugliest cars" of all time.
