they're all still great schools but why would you go to uchicago over nyu if you wanted to be in NY or vice versa.

ITE even Harvard and Stanford are gambles. Strong regionals at best.

Your been reading too many crazy TLS threads if you actually believe that.

It's true. Even YLS doesn't quite have the pull it used to west of the Mississippi. Probably a smarter call to graduate top 5% at Hastings if you want to work in San Francisco.

I think michigan is gonna fall into the bottom 4 of the T14, and perhaps UTX and UCLA will tie, if not surpass Georgetown for the 14th spot. I'm hoping UCLA of course, but I do think with all the clerkships that TX secures, it has a change to dislodge GULC. But of course, I don't know about national placement, reputation (which counts the most), etc...

I think IUB, Iowa and possibly Illinois (due to semi scandal they had last year) may fall out of the top 25, with GWU, Fordham and W&L moving back in. T20 will remain unmoved...

If someone can get me accurate data on the release date, I will go to the same place I got the rankings this year and launch a stakeout.

I missed the story of how you did that last year, could you give me the cliffs?

How is Cornell ranked 6 places higher than WUSTL when it has the same LSAT median but a lower GPA median?

Same rationale... there's a lot more to it than sheer numbers. A little BS, a little truth, a little perceived prestige (real or imagined). That said, I do think the rankings have some degree of benefit, especially for those who are entirely unaware of where law schools stand.

It was midnight or thereabouts. Someone saw the magazine but was too cheap to buy it. I was annoyed at my bf and had nothing to do that night, and Ken volunteered to pay my cab fare if I would go across town to Penn Station and investigate. My classmate kept up with me by text, and posted real time as I raced to the newsstand. He then had to talk me into not shredding the magazine when I saw how my school had been treated. That took a good ten minutes. Finally I relented and texted him the entire T1 and T2 before retiring to a 24/7 kinkos to make scans, since none of you would take my word for it.

Grew up a Michigan fan, they'd be my first choice if I had the numbers, seems to be a lot of Michigan hate goin' on. Apparently the difference between 169 vs. 170 or 3.75 vs. 3.79 + the problem of a state with decreasing tax revenue is gonna bring Michigan down. Except for the fact that the school only receives 2% of their budget from the state. And the fact that in peer assessment, Michigan continues to display some mad domination, more than making up for the 1 more question wrong LSAT score.

Maybe the higher peer assessment scores have something to do with Michigan not relying so heavily on LSAT/GPA, as opposed to the other similarly ranked number whores. Thus, their students are more complete and rounded, and perform better after law school because of it, leading to their constantly fantastic peer assessment scores.

I see Michigan as most likely moving back to 8, possibly 7 or 9, and remaining in that range for a very long time (if not moving up).

Edit: Sorry, had to show some love...

I predict that a bunch of schools will complain about the rankings even while constructing university policies around the rankings and in general benefiting enormously from their T14 status. What do I win?

To get a glass of milk to go with it, I predict that a bunch of people will try to compare T40 schools in different regions based on being 3 ranks apart.
