As a few of you guys know, I plan to apply ED at [school not to be named]. However, my second recpmmendation wasn't processed until earlier today. If I am able to tidy up my PS and submit my application by tomorrow, is there still a chance I can go ED? I've already mailed in my ED contract for what its worth.

Are the Nov. 15 dates for complete applications or just submitted ones? Is there anything you'd suggest for someone in my shoes? Thanks.

What is your obsession with telling people that you're applying ED to Columbia? Do you expect us to validate your decision or make you feel better?

ED's are treated differently by different law schools why don't you call them.

On the contract form it says "please complete this form and return it with all other required application materials no later than November 15." but that is kind of ambiguous. What takes the time for 'completion' is the LSAC report, and that is out of your hands. Any chance their admissions office is open today?

I would hope they'd be processing stuff today. I know LSAC is open because I just had something registered this morning.

Have you tried calling?

I feel like if you submit today you should have a really good chance. On my [school that won't be named] ( ) status checker it says that they have received all the components of my application, and completion is 'pending' since they are compliling everything. I'd imagine that (completion pending, all components received) is what you need to achieve by Nov 15th, not the actual completion.

I haven't, but this sounds like a great idea. I'm actually going to call right now, and I'll let you know what they're looking for by the 15th.

Edit: Yeah, they're closed. Damn.

I'm not ED, but I'm sure it would be good for anyone with similar questions to have that answered. I actually just noticed on the bottom of my status checker page it says:

"Early Decision Candidates: Please be reminded that your application to Columbia Law School is not considered complete until we have received a signed copy of the Early Decision Contract."

But I still think they are referring to receiving all the documents as necessary, not them finishing compiling them.

Well, I certainly hope that is the case! LSN suggests that they start making decisions VERY soon after the 15th, so it seems kind of hard to believe that they can process a ton of docs and still make decisions in a span of three weeks or so, but I guess I'll have to be optimistic. Since I don't have access to the status checker just yet, those ED instructions are a relief though. Thanks.

But maybe those first decisions that go out after the 15th are the people who got their apps in way back at the start of Oct?

I think you can still do ED. I applied ED last Saturday to the school that shall not be named and received my complete email yesterday. Also, I know for sure that it is Nov. 15th deadline to have everything submitted. I called and spoke with my new buddy Josh (who probably hates me because I have called a billion times) and he mentioned that as long as you get your stuff in they give a very small grace period to complete. I would submit today or tomorrow though. If you wait any longer you run the risk of missing the deadline and grace period or just pissing them off.

Also some of the ED decisions came out first week of Dec and others followed in the weeks after that. So I wouldn't worry about them needing a lot of time to make their decision.

Hope to see you next fall!!! :D
